It's official: this is my last email home.

It has been an amazing 2 years. I have learned a great deal about the Saviour and his gospel, myself, and the importance of service. I'm certain that if these critical principles are a part of my life (or anyone else's), they will bring me back to God.

I have developed a great love for God's words. I have learned that comfort is found in the scriptures (see Jacob 2:8). In addition to comfort, important and necessary doctrines regarding salvation are clear and abundant (see 1 nephi 15:14). However, the most important thing is that God's voice (revelation) is heard whenever someone seriously studies the scriptures (see D&C 18:35-36). This approach to scripture study separates us from most faiths.

I have learned to appreciate family. Being away from the people I missed the most has fueled my hope and excitement to spend eternity with you guys. I know that God's power unites families -- thats what it's all about (see Matthew 16:19).

I'm extremely grateful that I spent these last two years in Ogden. The investigators I taught and families I met all touched me and blessed my testimony. I am eternally thankful for these unforgettable experiences. However, the coolest thing is that I will be able to spend all of eternity with all of these people (see 2 Nephi 9:14 & D&C 18:15-16).

I feel completely content with my mission. In fact, I feel like I have received God's approval. It is the neatest feeling -- nothing compares to it. Thank you for encouraging and preparing me for this. This has been the best thing that has happened to me...I will always remember this.

This is the toughest thing to do, but I know it has to be done. Please pray for me -- I need it.

WEEK 105 - A Last Good-bye to special friends

Elder Kaufman toured the mission today (Tuesday Aug 31) and said good-bye to many good families he met during his mission..
The Ogdens are from Logan and had Elder Kaufman for lunch one last time, reminiscing about all the good times they had together. Sister Ogden sent this picture to us for which we are so grateful . :)

WEEK 104- Transitions Are Tough; However, They more often Bring Extra or Additional Happiness

Hey Mom and Pops,

It's hard to believe that we toured temple square two years ago. It was amazing to see familiar buildings and thinking back to when I was extremely nervous to leave you and become a missionary. I now feel a little nervous thinking that in a couple of days I will be leaving the 'missionary thing' behind and becoming a man. Transitions are tough; however, they more often bring extra or additional happiness. For example, I am sure that when Lehi and his family were asked to leave their home and establish a foreign land, they felt inadequate and most certainly scared. However, as their account goes on, it is evident and clear that the Lord helped them every step of the way and led them to a better place (see 2 Nephi 10:20). I know God will do the same for me.

I had some amazing experiences in Salt Lake today: some were spiritual and others were just plain funny. But due to a lack of time, I will tell you about them when I get back home -- only in a couple of days:)).

I'm pretty sure that I will have time to email you next week. Next week will be my final email home. What a crazy concept...Keep praying for me. I love you tons.

WEEK 103 - Let's Just Say my Testimony Underwent a Major Boost!

Mom,

Transfers occured yesterday. And as you already know, I am serving with Elder Attridge. However, the coolest thing that happened this transfer is that I became the first 'solo zone-leader' (without a zone-leader companion) this mission has ever seen. Pres. Olson told me that I should see this as a huge compliment and privilege. Pretty cool huh?

I have not started to pack up yet. That idea really scares me. I think, and I could be wrong, but this is only something Heavenly Father wants me to put off. He always wants us to be urgent. Urgent people get things done. But in this case, putting off the idea of going home will help me remained focused and complete the things Heavenly father wants me to get done (see Matthew 16:25).

I have to report on the amazing baptism that took place on Sunday. Kathleen and Alexis Chapman showed their love and trust for God and entered into the cleansing waters of baptism. I have grown to love this family -- they have blessed my testimony. To look at where they started and where they are at now is just amazing. Giving up anything is always super difficult and could sometimes leave us feeling like we are missing something and empty. But sacrificing something for the cause of Christ somehow brings a feeling of accomplishment, acceptance from God, and fills us with the Holy Ghost (see 3 Nephi 9:20 & Moroni 8:26). Seeing Kathleen give me a smile (I was one of the witnesses) right before she was immersed in the water was the greatest reward I could receive for our work with her. With just one smile, she communicated so many amazing messages to me. However, above all the messages that were communicated that day, the one I remember and treasure the most is the one that came from Heaven. When we meet, I will tell you all about it. Let' just say my testimony underwent a major boost! This is what the Gospel is all about (see D&C 18:15-16).

Also, this next Saturday, Elder Attridge and I will baptize Gary Parkinson (as if God has not blessed us enough). He is another amazing investigator that has touched my spirit in a very deep way. I promise to give a full report on his baptism next week. Speaking of next week, for p-day, I will be heading down to Salt Lake and going to the temple with the rest of the departing missionaries. That being said, I will probably email you later on in the day. Just thought I'd notify ya.

I really hope you accepted the Bertoldo's invitation;) I think it's a good idea...whatever my opinion's worth haha.

Please tell Bro Carpenter 'thank you' for his nice email to me. I love him and cannot wait to see everyone again!

I know God lives and plays a big part in our lives. We just got to find Him (see Jeremiah 29:13) .

WEEK 102 - Time Is Really Winding Down, Really Fast

Mom,

Give my best to Elder Carpenter. The assignment to be an assistant is big and requires a great missionary. Obviously his mission President chose the right missionary! I love him.

I can't believe another week just ended. Time is really winding down, really fast. Although time is not on our side, I'm glad I get to serve in Farmington for the remainder of my mission. The Lord really blessed me with special individuals that have touched my spirit in a very profound way.

I love seeing people fully embrace the gospel. This really brings me 'Godly Joy' and gives me a great glimpse of the fulfillment of the promise contained in D&C 18:15-16. As I have taught Gary, one of our investigators, I'm amazed of how willingly he accepts and gives up, just for he sake of moving closer to God. His level of commitment is simply amazing and his testimony is growing. He is preparing to be baptized on the 22nd of August. Please pray for him and us, as we do our best to help him. Also, Kathleen, another one of our investigators, is determined to quit smoking. She is amazing! We promised her that before she would ever put a cigarette in her mouth, God would spiritually remind her that she shouldn't, through her conscience. We also encouraged her to act on the impressions she received because God promised more impressions (wisdom, truth, light, happiness, etc) that would put her feet on the right path that leads to baptism (see 2nephi 28:30). What's most amazing is that she realized (for the first time) that God is part of her (our) life everyday (see Alma 10:6, Deuteronomy 5:24). She is preparing to be baptized this Saturday. The Gospel is amazing.

The excellent examples of our investigators have motivated me to re-read the Book of Mormon before I return home. As I am undertaking this challenge and seeing my investigators consume every ready assignment we give them, I've come to realize the truth in this very wise beautitude: Blessed are they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost (see 3 Nephi 12:6). Like the people of Zarahemla, serving under King Benjamin, I have lost desires to do bad when placed in situations where I would usually fall (see Mosiah 5:2). I assume my investigators are experiencing the same thing.

It took me awhile, but I have finally learned that I could learn something from everyone (see D&C 18:10). I hope we can all realize that every one is special and valuable in the sight of God, and hopefully ours.

WEEK 101 - Blessed Are They that Have not Seen, and yet Have Believed"

Mom,

I think it is so unfair that you guys are vacationing on the beach in Cape Cod, while I am bound to my white shirt and tie trying to endure the intense Utah heat! Actually, I think it's a good thing I'm not with you because if I was, I would be parading my missionary tan (including tan lines above the elbows, neck and pasty white legs), which is not too attractive. I hope you have a blast while you are there.

Besides us trying to survive this incredible heat, Elder Bland and I are trying to accomplish great goals. In order to end our missions on a 'high note', we agreed that we had to step it up, just a little. With the Lord, we want to baptize two more individuals. That being said, as that as our focus, the Lord, out of nowhere, provided two new investigators for us. We both viewed that as a tender mercy from heaven and acted immediately. What I mean by 'acted' is that we helped them understand that showing faith, repenting, submitting to baptism, receiving the holy ghost, and enduring to the end were not only good things but necessary if they wanted to return to Heaven. What is amazing is that, without us ever trying to convince them that these were the right things to do, they willingly agreed to and accepted baptism dates! Their story reminds me of when Alma the younger taught the people who were kicked out of the synagogues because of their poverty. Alma assured them that," blessed are they who humble themselves without being compelled to be humble; or rather, in other words, blessed is he that believeth in the word of God, and is baptized without stubbornness of heart, yea, without being brought to know the word, or even compelled to know before they will believe" (see Alma 32:16). Also, the Savior confirmed those words when he said,"blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed" (see John 20:29). I guess the point these super inspired men are trying to get across is that blessed are they who have faith and trust in the Lord and, "lean not into their own understanding" (see Proverbs 3:5).

This week has been very inspirational for me. As I have studied more closely the principle of grace, my eyes have been opened. For the longest time I have misinterpreted this scripture 2 Nephi 25:23. I thought that as a result of us working our hardest Christ would make up the rest. Although that is partially true, the full truth is that Christ is with us the whole way. He doesn't just wait patiently and then step in at the last moment. Why would he when he told us to be, "anxiously engaged in a good cause... and bring to pass much righteousness" (see D&C 58:27). If we think of the Savior as a person who just steps in at the last moment, we fail to keep our baptism covenants which obliges us to remember him always (see D&C 20: 77-79). Also, I think that when Nephi says "after all we can do", he is not referring to you and I, but to the Savior and us. Through our covenants, we can truly access his strenghth and perfection. Grace is not the end reward given to those who try their best, but it is given to them during the process of doing their best.

WEEK 100 - The Mission Is Beginning to Change

Hey Mom,

What an amazing story! I can't believe the missionaries ran into Marrisa. I think it would be really neat if she did attend my homecoming talk! This story really verifies and is a testimony of Alma's counsel to his son Helaman: by small and simple things are great things brought to pass (Alma 37:6). I hope to continue my desire to live and share the Gospel with all of my friends. I guess if I didn't I really wouldn't be a friend. I think it is also really amazing to think how the gospel connects everyone. This is why I think the Savior wants us to "let our lights shine...and glorify our Father in Heaven". Our examples have a far-reaching effect for good or for bad. We have to be "witnesses of God at all times, in all things, and in all places ye may be in" (Mosiah 18:9). This will ensure zero regrets and added happiness.

On Thursdays Elder Bland and I baptized Connor Nielson. It was another amazing baptism because about 50 ward members showed up! Nothings makes someone feel more loved than when others express their support through actions and not just words. The Holy Spirit of Promise was there to witness to us that everything that took place was valid in God's sight. The room was just filled with the spirit. It was amazing! Thats what it's all about!

Yesterday we attended my final Zone Leader Council. The mission is beginning to change. They are going to institute new meetings, less interviews with our mission president, less zone conferences and so much more. I'm glad I will not be here to experience all of that.

Besides that, many heaven-sent ideas flowed into my mind, which will greatly benefit me now and after my mission. It was a great meeting.

Also, Elder Bland and I held a zone study last Saturday. One of the bug issues in our zone is 'teasing'. Therefore we taught the zone the importance of unity and the consequences of disunity. The final commitment was to replace teasing with compliments. I really think we removed blind-spots and opened the eyes to a lot of missionaries. I think before we can see more success as a zone we have to try and be more Christ-like. I think great things will come from that.

WEEK 99 - Today is "Transfer Tuesday" and I Found out that Elder Bland and I Will Be Staying Together

Mom,

Today is "transfer Tuesday" and I found out that Elder Bland and I will be staying together --Yay!. Although it is really scary to think that we are both entering the last transfer of our mission life, it is also quite rewarding to think about all of our accomplishments, experiences, friends, and victories we've gained during this past 2 years. Even though I have underwent many trials and difficult times, the positive experiences always drown out the the negatives ones

On saturday we baptized Mason Botty. Besides feeling the spirit and expanding his testimony, he also had many supporters right by his side. A lot of his friends from Utah State University (Logan) came to cheer him on. This was definitely an experience he will never forget. That's what the gospel is all about!

Tomorrow Elder Bland and I will baptize Connor. Isn't that amazing? Serving as a missionary really brings the neatest experiences. Who would have thought that two 21 years old's could help prepare people to change their lives and follow Christ? Although we recognize that God is the reason and ultimate factor behind every success, it is just an intriguing thought. Doctrine and Covenant 84:88 gives us a great clue as to finding an answer: With God's companionship all is possible (Luke 1:37). It is amazing to think that any covenant child can access his divine help, insights, and comfort, as long as they are worthy. With God we can do anything!

Elder Bland and I typically drive our car from appointment to appointment. Since our area covers 3 stakes, walking, or even biking , would be horribly ineffective. It"s great to have the luxury of air conditioning and so forth while many other missionaries endure and combat the intense of heat of Utah's summer! That sounded very cruel, but really, I am really grateful! Remember last summer I walked the streets of Clearfield all summer long? I commend any missionary that could stand proselyting without a car in the summer - God bless!

I really miss families like the Mckees, Bywaters, Hoffmans, Dunns, Stephenson and so on. Give my best to them!

For your information, the Youth Spectacular was a huge success! and yes, I did take a good number of pictures. I will send them next week:)

WEEK 98 - The Work Here Is Flowing Steadily

Mom,

Thank you so much for that email! Not only was it very detailed, but for the first time in a long time, I felt very comfortable with the idea that I will be home soon. Exciting things seem to be happening back home and I am really happy I get to be there soon. Although I know it will be hard to let go of my mission, friends and memories I made here, I am confident God will make my transition really smooth. As Paul says: "... All things work together for good to them that love God...." (Romans 8:28).

I want to apologize ahead of time because this email will be shorter than usual. Time is very limited: we have to head up to Ogden and help out with the final preparations for tonight's event! The event is called "Youth Spectacular". The amazing part is that nearly 180 missionaries are going to participate. To say this is going to be a small event is a huge understatement.

The work here is flowing steadily. We will baptize one of our gators on Saturday and then one more on Wednesday of next week. The Lord has blessed us tremendously and we really recognize his hand in all things.

I love God. We are so lucky to have the privilege of making covenants with Him. I know that through our covenants we access his perfection and become one with him. In fact, if faithfull, we can gain all that He has. This is the "good news" of the Gospel.

WEEK 97 - Yesterday I Spent the Day with the Assistants to the President...and Helped Prepare for Zone Conference

Mom,

You are right, everybody in Utah is really tall. Sometimes we will meet deacons and teachers who tower over us -- That's a scary sight. Speaking of tall people, Aaron had the neatest spiritual experience during his baptism that confirmed to him that what he did was true. We did our part and explained that that feeling of approval came from the Holy Spirit of Promise and he could always qualify for those blessings as he remains worthy. He still has a great desire to learn more about the layers of the gospel (seeing as there are many) -- that is what it's all about!

I received your letter yesterday. I assume that because of the holidays the mailing of letters were delayed -- But I'm not bitter about it haha! I really appreciate each letter your mail. Even though I might not express it in words, whenever I receive your letters my eyes open wider and I smile from ear to ear. Thank you so much!

Unlike past experiences, our zone did not participate in any parade. In fact, we are really discouraged to participate. I wasn't to impressed with that, but 'c'est la vie'.

Yesterday I spent the day with the assistants to the president. I worked their area and helped prepare for zone conference. I have to admit that inter-city Ogden is absolutely different from Farmington. We were constantly on-the-go and taught about 10 lessons; that never happens in Farmington! Also, we met a wide variety of people: Some claimed to be Jesus; the prophet; the annointed one; the devil; and so much more. .... all and all, I really love my mission.

After meeting all the unique people in Ogden and comparing them to the people of Farmington, my thoughts led me to two scriptures: 1 Nephi 17:35 (first sentence) and D&C 18:10. I agree with Samuel when he said that "man looketh on the outward appearance, while God looketh on the heart. While we misjudge people because of a lack of material possessions and popularity, and a low self-image, God never makes that mistake. We are completely equal in his eyes and all have the same equal opportunity to progress in our time of probation. The universal goal for us is to become perfect. That is the requirement (Matthew 5:48). By ourselves we cannot reach it. Wha'ts more, material possessions, popularity and even a high-self image will not aid us in that pursuit. Only with and through Jesus can that goal be accomplished. Do you see how equal we are? The only thing we really need is our Savior. I am happy to know that his invitation to "Come unto me" is open to every one (2 Nephi 26:25,27,33). All of us have an equal chance to find him and to reach the most important goal: Salvation and Exaltation.

WEEK 96 - The Lahaches Stopped by Last Night

Mom,

All through out my mission I assumed that life back home was on pause; however, meeting up with the Lahaches last night changed (drastically) that idea. It was a delight learning about the changes that have occurred over the past 2 years -- I cannot wait to see these things for myself. I was happy to find out that the Lasalle Ward attendance has increased and that many of the youth are either serving or preparing to serve full-time missions. I have definitely developed a testimony of Alma's wise words to his son Helaman: "Learn wisdom in thy youth, yea...learn to keep the commandments" (Alma 37:35). When this powerful idea is implemented, children will grow up to be valiant sons and daughters of God who understand their purpose and know where they are going. I assume the parents of these children fully agree with John when he said: ' I have greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth' (3 John 1:4).

Aaron Turner was baptized on Saturday! It was a great experience for both him and his non-member family. Because the spirit was there in great abundance and touched their hearts, his mother and father (who have been exposed to the LDS faith their whole lives) hinted to the bishop that it is time for them to start a serious study of our faith. This example proves to me that God still blesses us with tender mercies! Also, this family has been part of the Farmington 7th Ward focus list for over three years -- many prayers have been offered for them. Many might wonder why answers to these prayers weren't answered earlier, but we must not forget that our prayers are always subject to the timetable of God. We have to trust that He knows what He is doing and that He can do it best. I testify that He can and does.

Elder Bland and I found three new investigators and committed all them all to baptism last Sunday. The Lord has been helping us tremendously! I confess to you that the Lord's hand is seen and appreciated here in Farmington (D&C 59:21)!

Keep praying for us -- We need it!

I'm having a blast. Ending my mission in this area is ideal. I serve among great missionaries and members.

The Lahaches stopped by last night and picked up my guitar and shoes. It was great to see them and realize that Tim is still Tim and Natalie is Natalie. It was also a delight learning about things back home. Tell them thanks for everything. I was really tired last night -- tell them that was the reason why I was so non-energetic.

WEEK 95 - Last night Elder Bland and I Held a Zone Study and Established a New Vision for our New Zone

Mommy,

Happy Father's Day! Although I wasn't home to celebrate this special day with all of you guys, I want you to know that many prayers offered in hopes that you would feel of my love all the way from Utah. I hope that prayer was honored.

During sacrament meeting many inspiring thoughts (Heaven sent, I'm convinced) came to me. Many of these thoughts were in perfect harmony with the theme of each talk: Father's day. One of the greatest insights (and most profound, I might add) was that the honoring of fatherhood gives us a glimpse of what our universal Father in Heaven is like and the qualities and attributes He possesses. That being said, Dad, thank you for giving me a sample of what my Heavenly Father is like. You have always taught (through example as well) me to be a better person and to obtain a higher, or a more Heavenly mindset. This simple but deep principle corresponds perfectly with what the Savior taught: Matthew 5:48, 3 Nephi 27:27, 3 Nephi 12:16, 3 Nephi 14:7-11, Phillipians 4:8, 1 Corinthians 2:9. Words cannot describe how thankful I am for you and your example. Thank you. I love ya!

I have been concentrating my studies on the Savior this last week. I have realized that we first have to understand the effects of the fall in order to fully appreciate the sacrifice and atonement of Christ. In 1 Nephi 10:6 and Mosiah 16:4 we learn that the fall literally separates us from God (physically and spiritually) and causes us to be "endlessly lost". In this condition, salvation is impossible. We cannot return to live with God through our own efforts. We are in desperate need of a hero. I am glad I get to teach that Christ is that Hero -- he is the Savior. With him, because of him, and through him, we can all find our way (He is the way: John 14:6), be saved, and return to our Heavenly Home. While many say that Christ compensates or makes up the difference, I think saying that he makes all the difference is more accurate. I know that He saves us from the fall and we can one day be at one with God through the at-one-ment. I love our Savior.

This week we anticipate to baptize Aaron. He has an amazing testimony of the restored Gospel and has great hopes to live faithfully within the gospel limits to the end. Last night we found 2 more individuals who are really interested in our church. We will begin teaching them this Sunday. Please pray for us.

Last night Elder Bland and I held a zone study and established a new vision for our new zone. The vision is to go to the temple often so we can receive revelation for our investigators. I am certain that we (God and us) will be able to uncover and resolve concern that prevent those from coming to Christ. It is going to work. Oh yeah, we also held the meeting on a mountain. Pretty neat huh?:)

WEEK 94 - Farmington Is a Beautiful Place

Mommy,

Farmington is a beautiful place. Besides its fantastic families and promising potential, the geography is amazing (I took pictures). I know I will have a lot of fun serving here for the remainder of my mission. In addition to that, serving with Elder Bland will definitely enhance the whole experience. I greatly look forward to the upcoming adventures here in Farmington.

To add to the excitement of being here, we had the privilege of baptizing a guy named Ivan Paz on Saturday. (He was a former baseball player and has a firm testimony). He has been taught for a long while but has finally realized that God has granted him a divine witness testifying of the truthfulness of the glorious gospel. His story reminds me of the Lamanites who were converted but "knew it not" (3 Nephi 9:20) . I am sure this occurs often. I can recall many instances, before and on my mission, where God has tried to communicate with me. However, because my pride stood in the way, I was unable to receive revelation that could have possibly grown my testimony or helped someone else's. Like Amulek, our hearts are sometimes hard, making it very difficult to recognize when God whispers to us (Alma 10:6).

These thoughts led me to study personal revelation this week. Here are some of my notes: Because God speaks to us through a quiet whisper, it is important that we heed the saviour's invitation and "Come unto Him". In order to hear a whisper, it helps to be close to the person who is speaking. How do we come unto God to be close to him? According to John 14:23, Obedience to the laws of God, enables Him to move closer to us, thus making it easier to hear the voice of God in our lives. Kind of a neat I thought.

Because Elder Bland and I transferred in together, we are still trying to adjust to the area and become familiar with all the leaders. In the course of doing that, we found a guy named Aaron who is extremely interested in the church. After being taught the first lesson, he has a great desire to follow Christ and get baptized -- His date is set for the 28 of June. Another tender mercy.

WEEK 93 - Saturday I Found out That I Will Be Transfered to Farmington, Utah

Mommy,

My stay in Roy has come to an end. Saturday I found out that I will be transfered to Farmington, Utah . Also, along with moving, I will become a zone leader (again...) and serve with Elder Bland! Isn't that amazing?! Not only will I have started my mission with him, but I will finish too...

I was trusted in establishing a new zone. Elder Bland and I will be the the first zone leaders there. He has changed so much. Mission life is great!... I am really excited for the upcoming transfer and look forward to much success.

Last Saturday was amazing: we had the privilege of baptizing 4 of our investigators. Although planning and preparing for 4 different baptisms is very difficult and challenging, the godly joy that accompanies us at each baptism, fully compensates for everything else. I think it is fair to say that Elder Kreiberg and I work our guts out! In fact, we baptized 16 in our 4 1/2 month stay together -- nothing short of miraculous. Like dad always says, "When you work for the Lord, you recieve his pay." His payment transcends worldy payment. A scripture comes to mind: 1 Corinthians 2:9.

To add to the excitment, Elder Kreiberg was called to be a new district leader/ trainer. He is really prepared and ready. I am really going to miss that kid. He is one of the few missionaries I can endure 4 1/2 months (which is rare) with. He is like a brother -- I love him.

I am really going to miss all the neat families I have met and taught. Great comfort is found in Doctrine & Covenants 18. We learn that we will experience everlasting joy with those that we have taught the Gospel to. In addition to that, D & C 130:2 states that " the same sociality which exist among us here will exist among us there. The Gospel plan really outlines and maps outs our whole life. Our eternal joy and happiness depends largely on how well we use our agency. I hope all of us will yield our agency to God and "let the consequence follow".

WEEK 92 - Transfers Are Next Week and I Will Most Likely Get Transfered

Mom,

I too cannot believe it is June. Time has really passed rapidly. It is really hard to imagine that I will be home this September and continue life without a name tag (that is a weird idea). Although the transition seems very difficult, many of my former companions, who are now home, have given me great advice. Hope for a happy return home, now seems a lot easier and achievable.

We had a blast for Memorial Day. We joined a family for a large family gathering for lunch. Besides lunch, we also played some baseball. And in case you're wondering: I did hit a couple of home-runs;)! Many were shocked that baseball was played in Canada. In fact, I constantly have to inform Americans (not all, but a few) that Canada is VERY similar to America and that certain seasons permit us to play summer sports.... ha ha.

In addition to 'hanging out' we also taught some lessons. We also confirmed two baptismal interviews and made some preparations for Saturday. This Saturday we will baptize 4 of our investigators! Although that sounds amazing, baptisms require a lot of preparation. That being said, please pray for us!

I have been studying the Mosiah chapters lately. I have noticed the differences between the types of Christ and the types of the Devil. Compare the way King Benjamin led his people to the way King Noah did. One of my greatest discoveries is found in these two verses: Mosiah 2:1,5 and Mosiah 19:11. While King benjamin encouraged his people to gather as families near the temple and learn, King Noah commanded all the fathers to leave their wives and children behind to protect their lives. Similarly, the atonement of Jesus Christ was motivated by love to save his eternal family members, while the adversary is motivated by selfishness and focuses on himself. Depending on who we serve, determines our motivations and ultimately our eternal rewards (Matthew 6:24) .

Well, that's all I got. Transfers are next week and I will most likely get transfered -- Chances are excellent.

WEEK 91 - The Success from Our Work Seems to Be Increasing

Mom,

Like Montreal, the weather here in Utah is beautiful. The sun in brightly shining, the grass is greener, and smiling faces are glowing. Weather greatly affects peoples attitudes, and at time, soften hearts. I am finally appreciating the beauty of Roy. Isn't that a shocker?!

The success from our work seems to be increasing. Our investigators are willing to keep commitments and happily look forward to their baptism. June 5 and 6 will be a weekend to remember: we are planning on baptizing 7 of our investigators that weekend.

Although Elder Kreiberg and I have been together for 4 1/2 months, not to mention in the same area, we are tremendously fortunate to have so much success. Like Alma and Amulek, as we testify and teach in unity, many will be astonished (Alma 10:12) and find faith in Christ, even those who have previously turned down our message.

I had a very spiritual experience at church 2 days ago. Like never before, I felt the Holy Ghost warn, prompt, and guide my thoughts. It was very inspiring. Hope blossomed in my heart and my faith in Christ felt like it was inflated. I lost every desire and tendency to put down, tease, and make fun of people. Instead, understanding and patience was given to me. The Holy Ghost is the messenger and deliverer of truth, guidance, warning, hope, faith, knowledge and love. The Holy Ghost can tell us all things what we should do (2 Nephi 32:5) All these great things come from God and are possible because of the atonement.

On a lighter note, I am continuing to lose weight and looking healthier. In fact, many missionaries mention that I am losing weight. That is a good indication that it is true. haha

WEEK 90 - Tell Ben I Love Him

Mommy,

Happy 25th birthday! I hope Rebecca and dad have spoiled you with presents and have expressed their gratitude and love for you -- You deserve it! I love you and so badly wish I was there celebrating your special day with you guys.

Last week we had zone conference and to our surprise we had many "special guests" visit and instruct us: Sister Lifferth (former 1st Counselor in the General Primary Presidency) bore sweet testimony and Alex Boye motivated us with inspiring stories and faith-giving words. I am sure every missionary left conference with a stronger testimony of the restored gospel, and a hope to successfully confront evil that we constantly oppose. My testimony concerning faith has definitely increased.

I have learned that faith is not the power to wish your desires into existence, but to understand God's will and be at peace with it (Moroni 7:33);
It is to believe that God can make more out of your life than you could (Matthew 16:25);
It is to do what God requires even when we desire something else(Deut 5:27).
Faith truly is trusting and depending on Christ.
What's more, exercising faith makes available to us the fruits and blessings of the restored gospel: relief from sin, pain, and afflictions.
It allows us to be transformed, cleansed, and qualified to return home (Mosiah 3:9,17; 4:3,6,7). Faith welcomes God's choicest blessing and pleases Him (Mosiah 4:12, Hebrews 11:6).

Also, my love for the Book of Mormon has deepened. Although it is an ancient book, it is packed with timeless wisdom. If we incorporate its messages, our voyage away from God will be more enjoyable and easier (Jacob 7:23). One of my favorite scriptures is Mormon 8:35. Moroni, along with many other prophets saw our day and wrote to us. We can learn from their examples, experiences, testimonies, and warnings. The Book is true.

I am so excited to hear that Ben will be serving in Italy (thanks for the pics). I think I still own an Italian textbook from when I studied it in college. If you like, you can search for it -- Good luck haha! I am also happy to hear he will be leaving after I return. I look forward to seeing "the guys" again. Tell Ben I love him. Also, update me when Kameron receives his call.

You are the best! Thank you so much for your birthday wishes.

Deviant youth commonly tamper with mail in Roy, Utah. This week they decided to tamper with ours. Two sources bring happiness to missionaries: Baptism (new investigators) and letters or packages. As you can imagine, this act greatly affected our attitudes. Haha... However, we found out that instead of stealing letters, they typically leave them on a near by road. That being said, one of the missionaries we live with, while proselyting, found two letters addressed to him -- neat miracle, huh?. Since that incident, we have received and mailed out letters without complications. I regularly receive your letters, so keep em' coming. I also received your package. Thank you so much. I love it! You guys all look great. Give my thanks to every one please!

I am glad I am staying in Roy. There are many investigators and families whom I love and look forward to knowing better. I am happy, healthy and honored to be missionary right now. As you know, I am very optimistic and plan on remaining that way.

Turning 21 is absolutely scary! Also, it is very hard to imagine that I will celebrate my next birthday at home. I am sure that idea makes you happy -- It makes me happy too.

Many families have invited us to dinner today. It will be very difficult to share time equally with the families I love ... Life can be so hard at times;). The friends we have made, really bring joy to our lives. They make life easier and are willing to help out in any way. I am really grateful for the wonderful families here in Utah and throughout the world -- Thank you.

The Stevenson family (a fellowshipping family for our investigator) took us to Maddox (a restaurant..a really good one) for my birthday in Brigham city. Isn't that too nice? I love them so much!

As for our missionary efforts, we are doing extremely well. We are finding and baptizing. In fact, we will baptize Ashely this saturday. She is 16 years old and has had great influences and examples all around her, her whole life. She is currently facing a very difficult time; however, she appreciates how the gospel of Christ brings relief and mends the wounded heart (Jacob 2:8). Because the gospel has positevely affected her life, she wants to dedicate it to God through baptism. We have had many spiritual lessons and great talks. I know she is growing her testimony and love for God. It is amazing to witness that.

On a lighter note, I want to share a funny experience. We were supposed to teach Ashely on Friday at the Stevensons home; however, both Ashely and the Stevenson forgot about the lesson. We were very discouraged and let down because every lesson cancelled that day. Accordingly, we thought it would be appropriate to release our frustrations on the Stevensons because they would understand and see the humor in it. After thinking about what to do for a couple of minutes, we decided to t.p their car!! since they always leave their door unlocked and gave us the o.k to walk in whenever we wanted, we did and used their toilet paper to t.p their car! It was priceless!

I know the gospel is true and restored through the instrumentality of Joseph Smith. It improves lives and gives hope for a brighter future and easier life. Scriptures testify and teach of Christ and his atonement. They also help better understand his qualities. It welcomes the spirit and leads to happiness (Jacob 7:23).

WEEK 87 - The Lord Seems to Want Me in Roy

Mom,

Today is transfer day, and to my surprise I am not getting transfered. I was really expecting to be transfered; however, the Lord seems to want me in Roy. After speaking with President Olson about transfer he told me that "he needs my leadership and me to continue to build Roy". In fact, last week Elder Kreiberg and I found 2 sincere investigators and 2 really cool families. I am sure these new friendships will enrich my experience here. In addition to that, I will also have the opportunities to see some of our investigators get baptized.

Last Sunday two of our recent-converts, Don and Sheri Scott, gave talks in sacrament meeting. They presented their thoughts in a very professional manner and bore sweet testimony. I learned that missionary work, profoundly impacts lives. As the Scotts told the ward how they obtained their testimony of Christ and his restored church, they said we were the reason why they decided to join and considered us to be a crucial part of their conversion. Although I know without a doubt that the Holy Ghost is the ultimate teacher and converter (Moroni 10:5; Corinthians 12:3; St John 16:13...), without missionaries (full-time and member missionaries), others would have a hard time learning and hearing the gospel message. Hearing and listening to the gospel precedes and leads the converting power of the Holy Ghost to take place in people's hearts (Romans 10:17). Therefore, missionaries are instruments in God's hands (Alma 17:11) and can assist the Holy Ghost in teaching the gospel. This work has great importance and value. Its effects are far-reaching: without missionaries, our family would have never been introduced to the gospel and never have the opportunity to be sealed under God's power and authority in the holy temple. Because of missionaries, we can live together forever and in some future day teach bless our future famliy with the plan of happiness (Alma 39:16). I am grateful for missionaries -. I am convinced that God, through the Holy Ghost and missionaries, impacts and improves lives.

My testimony has been strengthened as I have seen those I teach cling to the gospel. I know it is true and blesses families,

WEEK -86 - The Sun Is Shinning, the Weather Is Warming, and the Flowers Are Blooming.

Mom,

The sun is shinning, the weather is warming, and the flowers are blooming. If you cannot tell, I am extremely content and happy. Serving as a missionary in beautiful weather is motivating and a delight. People are friendlier and a lot more receptive to our gospel message. In fact, Elder Kreiberg and I found 3 new investigators last week. Finding, teaching, and baptizing have become my new hobby. Also, I must confess, Roy is a little more appealing -- don't quote me on that one;)

Last week will be one to remember. Elder Kreiberg and I baptized two of our investigators: Harold Gary and Darius Jimerson. (See picture in the right column entitled: Latest pictures from Roy. Ref to week 86, and click on the picture to see more)These two special individuals taught me valuable lessons. Both Harold and Darius have unwavering faith and a solid testimony of the risen Lord and His restored Church. Although they were not baptized until last week, the lives they led were in complete harmony with the teachings of the Master, Jesus Christ. Just as the stripling warriors were taught and remembered the words of their mothers, Harold and Darius attribute the goodness of their lives to their mothers too. Because of their mothers, they were taught to "refuse evil and choose the good" (2 nephi 17:15). I am convinced this is the reason that cause them to embrace the restored gospel. I am grateful to all mothers who honor their stewardship's: To nurture, teach, and love. Thank you for all you do and the examples you set -- they never go unnoticed and have a far-reaching effect. Motherhood promotes and leads to obedience (alma 57:21). I am especially grateful for you (mom). Thank you for you sharing your testimony, demonstrating your love through countless acts, and trusting me. I will forever remember the lessons and love you have and will share with me. Thank you.

In addition to attending two baptisms, we also attended Darius' wedding. He has so many friends who love and support him. Really, the factor that led to his spiritual conversion was a social conversion. Members are the life-blood of missionary. With them, missionary flourishes; without, missionary productivity suffers. Continue to assist and offer help to your missionaries. The Lord will bless you tremendously.

WEEK 85 - Its Seems Like the Lord Is Overflowing our Mission Experience with Tender Mercies

Dear Mommy,

Congratulations on your new calling. You connect well with the Primary-aged children. I am confident that God will help you prepare and teach them the importance of living gospel throughout their lives. Alma 37:35 suggests that we learn and practice the gospel early in our lives. Without Primary, I am sure I would not be the same person I am today. I am extremely grateful for what I learned. Although it seemed like we (Pat, Chris, Jason, and the gang) were not listening, gospel truths penetrated and permeated our minds and influence and govern our choices today. Thank you.

We look forward to baptizing 3 individuals this week. We met another individual who wants to get baptized this Friday -- talk about a 1 week conversion! Its seems like the Lord is overflowing our mission experience with tender mercies. These miracles enrich my testimony and verify this Book of Mormon verse: Mormon 9:19. I know God inspires us to be in the 'right' places at the 'right' times. Speaking of these miracles, yesterday we met a man who wants to be baptized on Friday (this Friday). What's more, he is fully prepared: he has gone to church many times and is reading and praying daily. The temporal and temporary blessings the world offers and gives, are outweighed by the spiritual and durable blessings God promises.

I am still losing weight and becoming fit. Actually, many missionaries tell me I am getting 'skinny'. I don't mind that at all. I attribute all of this to my diet and constant exercise -- it works!

WEEK 84- Attending General Conference Was an Amazing Experience

Mommy,

Travelling down to Salt-Lake city and attending general conference was an amazing experience. Viewing Temple Square and being surrounded (exlcuding the rude anti's) by many people who subscribe to identical beliefs, helped me feel the fruits of the Gospel: "but that they should look forward with one eye, having one faith, and one baptism, having their hearts knit together in unity and in love towards another" (Mosiah 18:21, D&C 38:27). In addition of appreciating the beautiful surroundings and having the privilege of hearing and meeting general authorities naturally enriched my testimony.

I had the privilege of attending 4 sessions of General Conference (Saturday afternoon session through the concluding session). Listening to the angelic voices produced by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, gathering with priesthood holders (both physically and spiritually), and listening to the inspiring words of our Heavenly Father's chosen servants, left me with deep and wide resolve to improve. On top of that, my conviction, pertaining to continuing revelation has increased. I feel energized and have re-committed myself to righteous living.

The most valuable principle I learned was that we have the capacity to be as righteous as we want. Our Savior commanded us to be like Him (3 Nephi 27:27). That being said, we are entitled to aid and assistance as we undertake this task thoroughly by applying and internalizing Christlike attributes, as they are outlined all throughout the scriptures. This will foster an atmosphere which will invite the spirit of God to accompany us and provide help as we attempt to improve. However, failure to incorparate these attributes will obstruct our progress and deprive ourselves of eternal blessings in this life and the next. "This life [IS] the time for men to prepare to meet God" (Alma 34:32). I pray that all of us will acquire a sense of urgency and develop God like attributes today.

Atfer the concluding session of conference, Elder Christoffersen made his way toward us and shook many hands -- I was one of the lucky few who shook his hand. I was amazed to discover that I am taller than he LOL.

Also, I met up with Kameron Lahache and Steve (a friend from Ottawa). It was great seing them. Give my love to all my friends.

Also, please thank Bro. and Sis. Carpenter. It was a delight to receive an email from them. I will write them back next week. Tell them I love and miss them dearly.

Our area is blossoming. We anticipate to baptize 3 next week. The Lord is constant and helps unmask their hidden concerns.

Revelation is true. I know God lives. I know his plan is unfolded to us through his prophets.

The Gospel has the ability to perpetuate happiness and promote peace -- It is the solution to salvation.

Oh yah, the girl in the picture that I am arm wrestling, is Bishop's Steven's daughter...he served in Montreal awhile ago! and the Mexican, is David Hernandez. I taught him back in Logan and then baptized him when I left to Roy. The pic of the 4 of us in our suits, is the baptism of A.J Lawrence. He stands next to me...in the pic.

WEEK 83- I Am Happy. I Think in Consequence of Doing the Lord's Work, It is Easier to Be Happy.

Hey Mom,

I had an amazing time with Cedric and Justin. I am glad he told you all about our time spent together. As for the rules, I was absolutely permitted to see and hang out with them. Don't worry about that.

I am happy. I think in consequence of doing the Lord's work it is easier to be happy. Although all of us make mistakes and fall short, the gospel brings hope for a better tomorrow (Ether 12:4) and the condition of forgiveness through repentance. Really, we have every reason to rejoice. It is our choice to remain in despair or to ascend to optimism. Through the atonement we can reach maximum happiness.

Elder Kreiberg and I baptized India Bingham on Saturday! The whole family has become re-activated and are enjoying quality time together at church. The gospel induced a mighty change in that family -- it is so visible.

Elder Kreiberg and I found 3 new investigators this week. Harold Garry is from the Bronx, New York and has a very charismatic attitude. Although he has a tendency to deviate from our lesson, he accepted the challenge to be baptized. Also, we found an old couple who subscribe to this concept: 'All churches lead to Heaven'. While we were struggling to find the right words to say, we offered a silent prayer and received special inspiration. We felt prompted to extend a baptism challenge. To our surprise, they accepted and felt a need to be baptized. That was definitely God working through us -- an amazing experience.

WEEK 82- I Just Found out that I Will Be Able to Attend General Conference in Two Weeks

Mommy,

I just found out that I will be able to attend General Conference in two weeks, along with all the other missionaries I came out with. I am hoping that I will have the privilege of meeting many General Authorities. Speaking of General Authorities, last Friday we drove by President Uchtdorf and Elder Bednar's homes in Val Verda (near Bountiful). The Southern part of our mission is absolutely beautiful. I have never appreciated that before because I have been up North for most of my mision. I hopefully will end my mission somewhere down there.

Aren't the Dunns awesome?! I love them. A lot of my fondest memories were formed in their home. They are the family that help started and offered their home for youth night. What's more, we were so close that we often pranked each other. The Dunns call pretty often, so we keep in touch.

The feeling you feel after you are released from a calling or an assignment is amazing. The Lord sends his spirit to tranquilize and pacify your soul to indicate a job well done. The Lord's approval and support is what we should seek. I experienced that on my bedside while praying when I was released as a zone leader. I am certain the Lord sent his soothing spirit to you as well.

On Sunday we ran into a former investigator. Besides letting us teach him again, he also allowed us to work out in his personal gym every morning. Is that not a tender mercy or what? I told him that while we help him strengthen and workout his spiritual body, we will work out our physical bodies. I know its Corny, but it is true. ha ha

Next week Elder Kreiberg and I will baptize India Bingham. Speaking of tender mercies, the Lord allowed and assisted us in baptizing 5 individuals for the month of March. If the lord is a part of your companionship you will never fail. Whatever he touches (psychically and figuratively) lives.

As for pictures. I promise you will receive some next week.

In your letter you mentioned that I have adopted a new 'lingo'. What do I say that is different?

A WONDERFUL SURPRISE LETTER FROM LOGAN

We received this letter on Monday, 22 March 2010. What a pleasure it was to receive this news from the Dunn Family!
This family is doing a great work to help the youth be acquainted with the gospel (as you will read in the letter). We are grateful to them for their hospitality and friendship to our son and his companions and to the youth of their area! What a great idea to have "pancakes parties" with the youth.

Serving a mission is a blessing indeed in so many ways. Now we understand why Elder Kaufman says ''the friendships I have established on my mission are incredible". The gospel really blesses all those who are engaged in it, the recipient as well as the giver. The great plan of happiness is in the reach of all those who long for it!!!!

WEEK 81 - The Friendships that I Have Established on My Mission Are Incredible

Mommy,

I have upgraded my email account 4 weeks ago. It was simple and convenient. All of my emails were automatically transferred to this account. What's more, I do not need to worry about deleting any emails because of the increased capacity to hold emails. Its a beautiful thing.

Utah is dramatically warming up and I am loving it. My best experiences as a missionary are formed in the spring and summer. I am convinced that Heaven only experiences spring and summer ha ha...

This week Elder Kreiberg and I baptized A.J L.. He is 25 years old and has finally mustered up enough confidence to act on what God has told him. He was scared of making big changes and making commitments. After praying and fasting and receiving inspiration, Elder Kreiberg and I thought it would be best to help him (A.J) understand the true doctrine of prayer. As a result, his prayers were enriched and he received an indelible answer that convinced him to come unto Christ. It was an amazing experience. I know the Holy Ghost attended with him as he sought truth. He is now working towards the temple, anticipating his endowment from God, and preparing for a celestial and eternal marriage. The Gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation.

The friendships that I have established on my mission are incredible. Meeting and talking with families, recent coverts and youth have really brightened my life and given me a great love for the Gospel. I am grateful that the same sociality that exists here is present in Heaven. Being surrounded and loved by others is truly a blessing sent from Heaven. God knows how to gladden any individuals heart. We just have to live within His Plan of Happiness to find it.

I had the chance to eat lunch with Cedric and Justin Haworth (Allison Bill's fiance) yesterday. I had a great time talking with them. If anything, I am now feeling comfortable about the idea of returning home. It will be tough, but it will work out. I also talked with Allison Bill on the phone. It was good to hear from her and learn about things back home. I can't believe she will be married before I return. Isn't that crazy! I too want to marry in the San Diego temple. It looks so majestic and holy -- It's beautiful.

The work here in Roy is 'rockin'. We are being blessed with many new investigators who are accepting baptism dates. We are teaching a lot of youth lately. I think when I return, I would love to be a seminary teacher or something like that. I love teaching the youth. I love teaching.

Anyhow, I am doing well: losing weight and gaining muscle. Also, my tan is visible. I really have no complaints. WE are probably gonna play soccer today.

WEEK 80 - This Week I Had the Privilege of Talking to Two Mothers

Mom,

The sun shines brightly and the weather is beautifully warm, in Roy ....

I apologize for not telling you - yes, I am actually in a walking area. I am glad I am walking rather than driving in a car because we have more opportunities to talk to people, enjoy the weather and get in shape. During the course of my mission I have gained a lot of weight and lost a lot of muscle; however, I have a new resolution to regain muscle and to lose a lot of fat. In fact, for the past 3 weeks I have started my diet and re-implemented my workout routine. As an outcome, I feel a lot healthier and look so much better. Sorry for parading my pride, but my 6-pack is visible again! Miracles haven't ceased ha ha... However, I do need to confess, yesterday one of our bishops, 'lovingly' forced me in to eating a brownie his wife made. I felt so guilty afterwards -- Life goes one.

This week I had the privilege of talking to two mothers (less-active) who are experiencing great struggles. Both of them thought it would be best to talk over the phone. The only downside to that was the fact that they were both crying, thus making it very hard to understand what they were saying. Disconnected words like "scared", "lost", and "sorry" were the only words I understood. I felt so sad and did not have the courage to ask them to repeat what they said. Instead, I offered a silent prayer and waited to receive revelation from God on how to help these individuals out. The only thing that came to mind was to share a scripture. I shared a very profound verse from the book of 3 Nephi. Here Jesus is speaking to the 'less-actives' of that day and said, "Return unto me". The reason why this verse is profound is because of two factors: 1. Jesus' famously echoed invitation, never changes. (he is constant and consistent). He never says, "Depart from me, or Catch me if you can". 2. The reference read 24/7. This invitation is offered every hour of the day, and ever day of the week. Doesn't God love us eternally? He does. I know it. I testify of it.

Two of our investigators understood that love that God possesses. As a result, they were baptized. These baptisms were remarkable. There were well over a hundred in attendance.
Those are the best baptisms. Also, Elder Kreiberg and I performed a musical number, which we recorded.

WEEK 79 - Roy Is on Fire

Mommy,

I am so jealous that you and dad went on vacation, while Elder Kreiberg and I worked our tails off here in glamorous Roy...! I must say, ...we are seeing and receiving many blessings from God. We are currently projected to baptize 7 this month and 4 for the next. Roy is on fire. It is amazing and life changing to be a part of the Lord's work and to spiritually see God's hand take control. We had the privilege of seeing Jeff C. enter into eternal promises with God through baptism this passed week. He is a changed man who is ready to meet God's expectations as covenant child of God -- It's glorious.

Recently, the leadership in our mission was trained by the MTC. They are trying to emphasize the importance of focusing on our investigators rather than ourselves. Too often we ask questions like: What could I do to improve?; What do I need to teach and so forth. Idealy, we need to stop thinking inward and start thinking outward. I realized that internalizing this concept will help me become a true disciple of Christ. I look forward to receive much needed revelation that will help us uncover our gator's concerns and help them progress.

WEEK 78 - Another Great Week Has Passed

Mommy,

I can't believe you and dad will soon be married for 34 years. You guys are amazing! I constantly think of and pray for you. You are amazing examples for me and help me aqcuire a stronger resolution to be my best self. I owe you a millions 'thank you's'. I love you tremendously.

Another great week has passed. I actually had the privilege of returning to Logan and baptizing a individual I taught for 4 months. It felt good being in Logan again; however, seing David H. follow Christ and be baptized was the crowning event of my experience up in Logan.
While we were changing back into our dry clothes, I asked him what made him decide to be baptized. He replied, "it was because of you". You can only imagine how I felt at that time. I immediately thought of John 14:27. This scripture taught me that no earthly source can compare to the peace and happiness that heaven brings to those who live in harmony with God's word.
What's more, next week we will be baptizing Jeff C. He used to be a baptist minister; however, after teaching true doctrine and inviting him to follow Christ through baptism performed with God's authority and power, he accepted and realized that the gospel he is now embracing, contains complete truth about God, His ways, and His plan.
It was a remarkable and a memorable experience for my companion and I. Elder Kreiberg is a new missionary, so he is loving all of this success -- as I am.

I know the gospel is restored, and benefits all those who apply and then re-apply its principles.

Mommy,

This past week was awesome. We baptized 1 girl named Bailey D. We found 4 new investigators, and challenged them all to baptism. We are currently projected to baptize 4 for this month and 7 for the next.

I discovered there is a direct correlation between humility and success. It took me 16 months to realize this -- pretty sad huh. I used to believe that missionaries acquired success based on their level skills, which is a common misconception. However, I learned that as we obtain that perspective we are really telling the Lord: thanks for the offer, but I will do it myself. If that is the way we approach and greet the LORDS work, which is again, HIS work, we are bound to fail. We need to obtain His perspective, determine His will, and then be at peace with it. Doing those three things will aid anyone in their righteous pursuits and endeavors. What's more, internalizing those three goals will assist us in our advancement and progression in Gods plan of happiness. I am reminded of the promise and assurance given to those who express humility to the Lord. Ether 12:27 states that as we recognize our weaknesses and faults and turn toward the Lord (come unto me) we will find access to the Lord's grace, which will help transform our weaknesses to strengths. Again, this is only possible through the enabling power of the Atonement. I know it is real, and power could be granted to us according to our compliance and willingness to live within the gospel limits.

The Gospel is restored and the Lord lives and is engaged in our lives. Prayer will help us discover those eternal truths.

WEEK 76 - My New Area Is Awesome

Mommy,

This transfer is going to be sweet. My new companion is the 'bomb'. His name is Elder Kreiberg, and he is from Denmark. He is really into music and guitars, so you can imagine how well we are liking each other.

My new area is awesome. We live in an actual house (full sized: upstairs; downstairs and all the works.
We had a pretty sweet week. We baptized a kid who is deaf and slighty autistic. It was an humbling experience teaching him and witnessing his desire to be baptized. Also, we have another baptism scheduled next week as well. The work is blossoming and the Lord is providing.

It is always fun getting transfered. I love the area and anticipate a lot of success. Keep praying for us.

I was happy to see Elder Carpenter and Glowa or at least pictures of them. Tell them I miss and love them!

As for the address, I do not know it. Just keep sending letters to me through the mission office. That is best.

WEEK 75 - I Am Getting Transfered! (Roy, Utah)

I am getting transfered!

I am sort of glad to leave Logan. I have been here for 4 1/2 months and as usual, doing work in the same area for that long gets a 'little' tedious. I will now be serving in Roy as district leader/ greenie buster. I am really excited to carry out that assignment. I have served as a zone-leader for a while now and I am glad to experience that change. Actually, I feel a big sense of relief -- this was needed. My new companion is from Denmark. I am not sure of his name just yet but I will inform you when I know it. I have met him once before and I am confident that we will get along just fine.

This past month has been one of success. I have had a blast serving with Elder Gifford and together, with the lord; we were able to help 7 individuals come closer to Christ through baptism. It will be a month to remember.

I will never forget all the cool experiences and the friendships that have been formed. Families like the Ogden’s, Dunns, and the Willardsons will forever be in my memory. Missions are great.

I know the gospel is restored and that it contains eternal principles. If followed and internalized our hope of returning to God will transform into a reality and our souls will blossom with Gods spirits accompanying us.

Mommy,

I can't believe how warm it is in Montreal right now. That is unbelievable. I am sure you guys are enjoying the weather and engaging yourselves in many cool activities. I really miss our Sunday night walks. I can remember the times I used to think that walking with you guys was the stupidest activity ever; however, I am grateful my attitude toward that changed and I had the privilege to spend quality time with you guys before I left on a mission.

I can't wait to watch all of the cool events I have missed over the span of two years. Technology is grand! haha

This past week Elder Gifford and I had the sweet privilege to baptize Autumn M. I am convinced and I conclude that she is the cutest 9 yr-old in the world! I have pictures that serve as proof for my statement. haha. Missions are the best. Words cannot describe the experiences I have gained and the lessons I have learned. These are defining years in any individuals life and I am grateful that I am being tutored by the lord in the capacity of missionary at this time. Witnessing an individual change and come to Christ is pricesless and so valuable to me. The restored Gospel is true and is converting people as we speak.

This past week I learned what it is like to be a member-missionary -- Let me explain: Because we were helping an elderly lady shovel her driveway and other parts of her house, we dressed down into what we call 'p-day clothes', which basically consist of a T-shirt and jeans - you know normal clothes. Anyways, we had to stop for gas before we got home to change. I then had the idea to talk to the lady behind the cash register and greet the conversation as a "member", not a missionary. I simply stated my love for the church and bore my testimony concering it and asked her if she would like to come to church this week. She immediately declined my offer and said, "its not my thing." I then responded like this, "Thats alright, there are missionaries here who would love to help you discover that Church is everyone's 'thing'."We both laughed and then she agreed to meet with the missionaries. Isn't that tight? I invited, I was bold, and she wasn't offended. We have to constantly invite people to learn more about God's truths and plan for us, no matter what we are doing. That was a neat experience.

WEEK 73- Another Week Has Passed, and God Has Blessed Us with Another Baptism

Hey mommy,

Another week has passed, and God has blessed us with another baptism. In fact, David L.'s baptism is nothing short of a miracle. We baptized his daughter the week before, and because he was touched by the spirit, he was given bright hope that his weaknesses could transform into strengths. He has met with missionaries for about 2 years but was never able to overcome his addictions and progress toward baptism. David's story is full of hope because I re-learned that if any individual will thoroughly repent, which includes turning towards Christ and away from sin they could unlock the blessings of the enabling power of the atonement and be given the power to overcome and do as Christ desires. It is a beautiful thing --David experienced it.

Our area is still projected at 8 baptisms for this month and our zone is projected at 26! If we baptize over 20, we will set a new record for the zone and have a party! ya baby!

Elder Gifford and I are still having a blast and work hard!

Oh ya, those crazy kids at youth night pranked us again! While leaving for the gym in the morning and as I opened the front door, a huge pile of popcorn rushed into our place. Those crazy kids... we will have to re-prank them soon!

Before I forget..I did receive a tie from the Glowas before Christmas. They deserve a big fat thank you. Would you please relay that information to them, along with a 'I love you'!

As you know, Elder Gifford and I teach the youth on a weekly basis. Unfortunately, because God has blessed us with so many miracles we were unable to make it to last weeks youth night.

This week has been full of miracles. We anticipate to baptize 9 in the month of January, and 26 for our zone. This will exceed Cache Valley's record of 20 in a month. God is blessing us.

I am so excited for Rebecca, and cant wait to receive her emails. I love you.

Mommy,

I am glad you made contact with the Willardsons. They are such a help and a delight to us. On top of that, they spoil us rotten -- which sometimes isn't too bad. They kept asking me to relay your conversion story; however, I couldn't do it like you could have. They think you guys are amazing.

I am having a blast with Elder Gifford. We work well together. In fact, we baptized two this past week, and we are still anticipating 4 more for this month -- The Lord is blessing us. Also, we are all about getting back into shape. We work out like crazy! We feel like we are fit again, it is a great feeling.

I am not sure I have grown as you think I have. Maybe I am wrong, but I still have many things to do and to overcome. You are right, the gospel is the greatest resource we have. It points to Christ; if understood and applied, it cultivates God-like morals and standards; The gospel is true, restored and pleasing to God. I know it. I am also eternally grateful for the words of Christ. In Alma 37, Alma compares Christs words to a compass. the Words of Christ are a directing and guiding force. They illuminate our path back to our Heavenly home (Psalms 119:105). The Gospel is true.

WEEK 70 - It Was so Fun to Hear Your Voices over the Phone!

Mommy,

It was so fun to hear your voices over the phone! I really miss and love all of you. I hope you had a joyous and festive Christmas.

Christmas here in Cache Valley was excellent. Thank you so much for the gifts--everything is perfect. We spent a lot of time with the Ogdens. They're the coolest family. You will have to one day meet them. I am sure they would love to meet you. As for the weather, it is kind of chilly, but it is bearable. I am having a blast here in Logan and with my elder Gifford.

This past week one of our investigators, Rick G., announced that he will be baptized. During the teaching process he would always say that he didn't know enough and therefore should not be baptized. I assured him mulitple times that knowlegde is not a qualification nor a requirement for baptism. In fact, the lesson before last, I was really bold with him: after reading verses from Mosiah 18 and D&C20, I then said "Rick, the only thing preventing you from progressing and advancing in God's plan for you is yourself. You know enough and have felt the spirit comfirm truth to your heart and mind. Be true to yourself." After that, I committed him to pray about baptism. The next day he gave us a call and said, as he was crying "I want to be baptized."
Isn't that awesome?! I am amazed and marvel at what things I can accomplish when I have access to God's Brilliance. I testify that knowing how to feel and act on the spirit, is the single most important thing for us to master. Create a habit of doing things that invite and welcome the spirit to attend you.

WEEK 69 This Will Be a Fantastic Transfer!

Mommy,

Today I found out Elder Mcdaniel will be transfered and I will be staying here in Logan. My new companion will be Elder Gifford. He is a missionary that I met early in my mission and we happen to be best friends. When we served around each other (both as jr companions) we would always joke about becoming zone leaders together. 1 year later that hope has transformed into a reality. As you have probably gathered, I am really excited. This will be a fantastic transfer.

Elder Mcdaniel has spent the past couple of days down in Odgen with his new companion. Because of that, I have been living with Elder Lunt and his companion, Elder Scott. It was so much fun to have my son, Elder Lunt in the zone for a bit. However, I am proud to say that next transfer will be his first time serving as a senior companion -- he actually follow-up training. I am confident that he will carry out his new assignment with ease.

On Friday our mission gathered together for mission conference. It was so much fun to see former companions, and other missionaries I have served around with. Yes, I took pictures.

Could you please thank Sister Deer. I received her card and CD. I really love the CD. I have been listening to it ever since I recieved it. Please give her my best and my Christmas wishes. love them!!

Last week, after activitating my new bank card, I purchased the John Bytheway box set CD's. Thank you so much for that!

Last night I had dinner with the Ogdens. I'm not sure how, but I ended arm-wrestling Kenny (Sister Ogden's son) and Brother Ogden. I creamed Kenny but had a difficult time with Bro Ogden. After 5 minutes of using all of our strength, we decided to call it a 'tie'. He is 6'4. He is a really big guy. I think Sister Ogden took pictures. I am sure she will send them to you.

I will be spending time with the Ogdens and my new comp's grandmother who conviently lives in Logan. love yah

WEEK 68 - Logan Is still Wonderful.

Mom,

Last week, while I was on exchanges on USU campus, I met up with Elder Green. It was great to see him. I could tell he was really adjusting to being home.

Thank you for all the stamps. Give my thanks to Sister Glowa for this!!!!I ought to write Chris. I haven't talked to him in ages. How is he doing? Tell him I love him.

I think it is great that you and Sister Ogden communicate via email. She is the bomb. I love her a lot. Also, her husband is a riot. We have a lot of fun together. The experience of a mission enables you to form many friendships. I am really grateful for that. Elder Mcdaniel and I did prepare a little presentation for the Ogden's ward. It was a lot of fun.

I will take 50 bucks out of my bank account today and purchase the John Bytheway CD. Thank you so much.

As for calls on Christmas, I haven't the slightest clue. I will email you news when I receive it. Logan is still wonderful. Because we have no car, we walk from appointment to appointment. However, because of the large concentration of members here, we hitch for rides -- it is pretty tight. The weather is just perfect too. No complaints.

Dylan was baptized last Saturday. It was a pretty sweet baptism. The kid is really changing. It is amazing. It's amazing what happens to individuals who include and recognize God in their lives. Hearts change, families unite, testimonies are established, priorities are set, visions are clear, and hopes for a Glorious existence with God is bright.

WEEK 67- We had Interviews with President Olson

Yesterday we had interviews with President Olson... I feel comfortable where I am right now. I am having a blast. I feel renewed and refreshed. I am doing good.

Dillan F. is getting baptized on Saturday. I will have the pleasure of performing the ordinance. God has been working with that family, because they are changing so much. It was so great to witness that.

Yesterday Elder Micky D and I went out with the assistants. We had a blast! We taught, contacted, tackled each other and so much more. It was so much fun.

Mom,

I am glad to hear all is well at home. Logan has been treating me well and it's not even that cold. It has snowed a couple of times since I have been here, but that's about it. It is hard not to think of home, especially during the holidays.

Speaking of holidays, I had a rocking Thanksgiving. To start off the festivities, we played zone football. Although it was fun, I realized how out of shape I really am. For the record, I still dominated (my team won) ;). However, the next day my sore muscles dominated me. I guess that should give me a greater and deeper incentive to get back into shape or not;). Next, we watched the movie titled "Surfs Up". Even though it was a Disney movie it was actually really funny. We also watched the movie "Stardust". This movie was epic! Like Rebecca, I am starting to love the English accent! We also, spent time with some families and just hung out. All in all - to say I was content, would be an understatement.

Dillan, one of our investigators, who was at one time totally against meeting with us - and even considering baptism - has accepted to be baptized. After he attended a baptism, the Spirit, taught him that baptism is true and needed. He said: "That was so cool, I wanna get baptized too!" By the way, he is only 11. Cool story huh? (Mark 10:27)

WEEK 65- You Should Have Seen my Face when I Learned that Colton Is Passing the Sacrament!

Mom,

You should have seen my face when I learned that Colton is passing the sacrament! I am really proud of him, and I am certain that he is carrying out his duties as a priesthood holder honorably and that God is very pleased with him. Stories like that make me very trunky haha!

Elder McDaniel and I had to prepare a training for zone conference last Thursday. A typical zone conference consists and inlcudes a training from the assistants to the President, Sister Olsen, President Olson and then the zone leaders. Our aim was to help missionaries learn that teaching simply will help our investigators connect the dots of the gospel. For example: Why do I need to get baptized if the Book of Mormon is true?; Why is Thomas S Monson a prophet if Joseph Smith is a prophet? Sometimes because we complicate the gospel, those we teach do not understand how those dots connect. So to help our missionaries understand the need and importance of teaching simply, we videotaped ourselves teaching the restoration and tried to illustrate how our investigators see and understand what we teach. Of course we used extremes to illustrate our point, but it was hillarious! I will have to send a copy to you!

Just last night we went on exchanges with Bro. Jarvis. I quickly found out that he is actually Pres. Jarvis' cousin. What a small world, eh? He had a blast with us and wants to come out again! Be sure to tell President Jarvis about my encounter.

WEEK 64 - Elder McDaniel and I Are Having a Blast

Mommy,

This week has been fantastic. Elder McDaniel and I are having a blast and are also seing a lot of success. He served in Ogden for the past 6 months so he loves street contacting. I haven't really set apart time for street contacting in awhile, so we thought we start doing that here. As a result, we have found many potential investigators and have gained some pretty funny stories.

The Lord keeps blessing us with miracles. We were anticipating to baptize Yolanda next week; however, after one of our lessons she explained that she couldn't wait and wanted to be baptized this week. She met all of the standards that would qualify her for baptism, so we baptized her on Saturday! Because this baptism was so unexpected, we were very ill-prepared and let's just say the service wasn't as good as it should have been. It was good nonetheless. On top of that, since all of our baptisms are done in the tabernacle, here in Logan, we need to borrow a key to get in (keep in mind there is only one key in all of Cache Valley). To make a long story short, we lost and then found it! We were really scared though! We thought we blew it for the whole zone!!!

I really miss attending conference with you guys, especially hearing dad speak. It will be a delight to do that again.

WEEK 63 The News Is that Elder Fairbanks Is Getting Transfered

Hey Mom and Dad,

We received the call this morning as the news is that Elder Fairbanks is getting transfered. He will be going back to his old zone (South Ogden), one of his favorite areas. Although it is sad to have him go, I am glad to have served and learned from him. He is definitely one of my favorite companions.

This week Johnny Ha was baptized. This was a defining moment in my life. The spirit that was present at the baptism was deeply felt, greater than at any moment in life. The spirit's sweet voice reassured me that I am here for a reason, and I am doing what is right and true. Johnny offered the closing prayer at the end of his baptism. Personally, it was the most heartfelt prayer I have heard in forever. I have witnessed a man change into a man of God (Alma 29:10).

Also, for our youth lesson, we had a testimony meeting. It was a very spiritual night. A lot of the youth confessed that these meetings are helping realize how important following Jesus really is. They also revealed that being in an atmosphere which is conducive to the spirit, is their goals. It's amazing to think our influence reaches both non and active members.

Elder McDaniel is my new comp. I have no idea who he is. I am sure that all will go well.

I love and appreciate all you do. As for Christmas, I was thinking that a CD full of talks by John Bytheway would be really appreciated. I bought his Box Set featuring talks entitled: Weed Your Brain, Grow Your Testimony, First Solo, Which Values Do You Value. He has a new Box Set. I would really love that:)

WEEK 62 - Elder Fairbanks and I Teach the Youth Every Sunday Night

Mom,

Elder Fairbanks and I teach the youth every Sunday night. To first attract them to ''another Sunday meeting'' we decided to call the meeting ''pancake night''. Naturally every kid was intrigued and chose to come. For the first three weeks pancakes were actually made, but for the last two weeks they weren't. Instead of being sustained, or bribed with food, the youth have finally found out that being fed spiritually is more important and even better than pancakes. Moroni was totally right when he said: The things which I have spoken, which are spiritual will never be done away (Moroni 10:19). It is amazing to think that whenever we want, we can have access to Gods brilliance and glory through righteous living. When we do have access to this, making the rights choices are easier, our vision and goals are less blurred and we let our light shine. Additionally the feelings it brings are unforgettable. It is a beautiful thing.

Last night Elder Fairbanks and I decided to conduct a musical fireside. It was a great night and everyone had the opportunity to exhibit their talents. Excluding a couple of songs, it was a spiritual feast. Elder Fairbanks and I performed three songs: There Is Hope...Brandon Heath, There Is a Green Hill far Away...and Beautiful Saviour. We did record it and I will send it to you as soon as I can.

Yesterday was Elder Bill's birthday. I wrote him a letter but he will not receive it until forever. So if you could, tell him to expect a letter and give him my birthday wishes.

We talked to a lot of missionary moms, and I always ask them what things they hope their sons include in their emails. Most of them just want to hear that their kids are doing OK. So, I am doing fine!!!

As for Christmas, I have no idea what I want. I really just need more socks. Actually, white dress t-shirts and sweater vests will do. Today I will be buying garments...I need new ones.

My shoes are just fine....really. Eccos are a durable brand, but I will send a photo.

WEEK 61 - Snow Has Finally Found Cache Valley.

Mommy,

Regarding my experience with the swine flu:

Elder Fairbanks and I went to the clinic last Saturday and were told that we had a mild form of the 'swine flu'. We were advised to stay in for at least 7 days. Because Elder Fairbanks and I don't have asthma or anything of that sort, we were not given 'tamafluid' -- so many people here in Cache Valley have the swine flu, and medication is limited. So for the following 7 days, Elder Fairbanks and I stayed in our apartment, did nothing but sleep and study...and made fun of what we could. As for our symptoms, we suffered body aches, sore throats, and tiredness.
I am glad to say that we are out and serving again, and it is great!

Naturally, we had a slow week; however, we were able to pick up a new investigator. She has had a rough past but has every desire to change for the good.
Teaching her has taught me that before anyone can have faith (trust and confidence) in the Savior, suitable for repentence, that person needs to first KNOW him. For example, I know that my parents will always come to my rescue and love me because of my experiences with them. Thus, my knowledge is that I can trust and rely on my parents for anything. Now the question is how do we gain these experiences with the Savior?
His character is revealed in the scriptures: he is merciful, loving, full of love and grace, patient, mindful, considerate, and the list goes on and on. Those who choose to read his words, which are contained in the scriptures, will develop and cultivate a special relationship with him. That person will come to KNOW, trust and rely on the Savior.
Scripture reading enchances and strengthens one's faith and will help us qualify for the blessings of heaven. Reading His words has helped me understand who and what kind of person Jesus really is and ultimately helped me trust him. What's more, because of certain experiences with the Savior, my faith is turning into a knowlegde that He really is and can save me. I invite all to read and pray about the Book of Mormon and witness the blessings springing into your lives.

Snow has finally found Cache Valley. To tell you the truth, seing the snow was a refreshing sight. Being a missionary during Christmas is really enjoyable. People tend to be happier, friendlier, even receptive to our message! I am looking forward to it!

As for those who included me in their prayers -- THANK YOU and I LOVE YOU.

WEEK 60 - This Week Has Been a Little Slow

Mommy,

I have been sick since last Friday !!! Naturally, this week has been a little slow, but Elder Fairbanks and I will be ready [again] to work tomorrow. I am really looking forward to it:)

Even though the week was slow, we were able to see one of our investigators, Mika S. get baptized! After her baptism, she came up to me and said:" thank you for being my missionary." This reminds me of a scripture: James 5:20.

Serving the Lord has really taught me that I am doing the most important work alive. Jesus did his part, and through the atonement all can be rescued from the effect of the fall and be with God again. However, we as covenant children of God, have a special responsiblity to ensure eveyone knows about what Jesus did for us (2Nephi: 28), and what we need to do. Because of him, we will all live again; however, that alone will not allow us to live eternally with God. Indiviuals must apply the 'atoning blood of Christ' (Mosiah 4:2) in order to be forgiven of his sins, be clean, overcome spiritual death and live eternally with God.

Again, all of these blessings are possible because of Jesus Christ. I know that there is no other name given, means or way that could lead to salvation. When we teach people these important truths, we save them from worst death imaginable. That being said, when someone tells you "thank you for being my missionary" you can only imagine what peace, joy, comfort and happiness enters my soul and confirms to me that I am doing good, that I am choosing the right. Share the gospel.

Thank you for sharing Elder Glowa's email with me. I loved reading it. Tell him I know he will be a fantastic missionary.

The weather here in Cache is beatiful. It is not too cold, nor too hot. I am in the nicest part of this mission.

WEEK 59 - It Was a Great Week

Mommy,

I can't believe how much is going on back home. I am not going to lie, it makes me sad to think I am missing all of these great events; however, I know the Lord planned it out this way
(1 Nephi 9:6). That is my source of comfort.

This week Tanisha and Devin were baptized at the Logan tabernacle. One of the cool things about this area is that every baptism in Cache Valley happens at the tabernacle -- There is a way sweet spirit there. What's more, we invited three other investigators to witness the baptism and all of them received a witness that baptism was the 'right' thing to do. We have another baptism scheduled for next week - Mika is way excited for baptism. She has really experienced a change of heart and has discovered that good things happen to those who love God (Romans 8:28).

This past week Elder Fairbanks and I tracted into Johnny H. He is Vietnamese and wanted many answers to his questions like: Is there life after death? Why am I here? How grateful are we for the plan of happiness that maps out our eternal existence and answers many questions of the soul. I know God's plan is real and we are participants in it. We are much more than participants, we are children to Heavenly parents. With such knowlegde, it is right to say we have divine characteristics. These attributes are only evident in the lives of others if we live the commandments. Johnny, if you haven't already guessed, is a golden investigator. As we commited and challenged him to follow Jesus' example and be baptized, he responded this way: "Heck yah! I want to open another door to happiness!" How awesome is that! We then taught him how Nephi views and understands baptism: Baptism is a gate, that when opened, leads to a life of unending happiness with God (2 Nephi 31:17). It was a great week.

If you send dearelders to my address, rather than the office I receive the letter sooner. So I would advise you to do so:).

WEEK 58 - But I also Thought about You (Dad) and Your Amazing Influence in My Life

Conference was great! President Uchthdorf and Elder Holland are always my favorite speakers. I am sure you agree that Elder Holland's sermon was out of this world -- it was epic! I hope those who had doubts, heard that talk -- there is no way they could dispute Elder Holland's testimony. The Book of Mormon is true.

Serving with Elder Fairbanks is a blast! On top of that our area is sweet! Logan is definitely a place I would come back to visit. The individuals we are teaching are out of this world . The majority of them actually read and write down questions about the chapters we leave with them -- Every missionaries dream! As you can tell, I am really happy to be here!

On Sundays Elder Fairbanks and I teach youth lessons. Basically every junior and senior (both members and non members) in highschool attend these lessons. This is a great source of finding new investigators and preparing young men to leave on missions.
I am sad I wasn't able to attend Jason's farewell. How did it go? How many attended? Tell him congrats and good luck!

Fall is finding us as well. Logan is so pretty, especially the mountains.

WEEK 57 - I'm Going to Be Serving in Logan, in Cache Valley County

I am glad you liked the pictures...

The lady in the picture is Barbara S. The baptism was picture perfect, except for the fact that we were late: (besides that, it was perfect!!! She was really prepared and ready to take that step in her life. I know God will be with her and continually aid her in her righteous pursuits.

I received your dearelder a little later than expected. No need to call or communicate with 'dearelder'. I think the letter was held at the office a little too long. We have a new staff serving there now.

Isn't it exciting to see all of the LaSalle boys leaving on missions? Maybe it is bittersweet. I think it is cool. If my opinion counts for anything:)
Give Jason my best and give him this advice: be familiar with Preach My Gospel. There was one elder in my MTC district who knew all the answers . During our "alone time" I asked him what he did to prepare for his mission. He said: I read Preach My Gospel 5 times and went out with missionaries frequently.

You're an awesome mom! Watching an individual be refined through the gospel brings feelings that cannot be compared to anything the world offers : Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you....(St John 14:27) Just imagine if you bring many souls unto God -- how great will be your joy then (D&C 18:16).

I am happy to hear the LaSalle ward is growing in numbers. I anticipate and look forward to seeing everyone again. Please give the LaSalle Ward my best!

This morning we received a call from the AP's (assistants to the president). I found out I will be getting transfered. I'm going to be serving in Logan, in Cache Valley County. My new companion will be Elder Fairbanks. His cousin served in Montreal. Do you remember him? Rebecca will. Anyhow, he is my new companion. I am way excited. What's more, he is Canadian:)....two canadian zone leaders:) ...should be good:)

This morning we had a zone study. We taught the elders the importance of being 'in tune' with the spirit. To illustrate this principle, I played the Beatle`s song [Blackbird] on guitar twice. The first time the guitar was tuned, and the second time it wasn't. I think that really brought the message home. We then taught them that anyone could be an instrument, but the Lord wants effective instruments. IT WAS SWEET!

Please tell Elder Carpenter Happy Birthday for me! I didn't forget it:) he was in my thoughts! Oh yeah, and thank Bro and Sister Carpenter for their dear elder:)

Mommy,

You are right, time does fly by -- but that means I will be home in no time, right? I am not trunky! It was just a joke. In fact , thinking about home freaks me out. It feels like I have been doing missionary work my whole life; however, I am sure I will adjust well -- When the time comes. Anyways, let's focus my thoughts on missionary work!;)

I'm not sure if I told you, but we were teaching a 15 year old who is autistic. His name is C.J. Singleton. I am grateful for all the experience I gained from working with Colton, Malachi, Alex and Keagan, because I was able to 'connect' with him. Teaching him was difficult, but the spirit finally got to him. Elder Crafton and I have many funny experiences with him. I sort of wish I recorded them in my journal... I don't think I will ever forget him. At any rate, after weeks of teaching him, he is finally baptized! It was an awesome experience for the family and us. On top of that, I bet there was a party in heaven!

I really enjoyed reading the letter you sent me...oh, wait! You never sent one! I am sure there is a reason, or there was a mix-up somewhere.

Please tell Elder Carpenter Happy Birthday for me. I miss that kid. How is he enjoying his assignment as a district leader? I m sure he will do great. I hear all the LaSalle kids are golden;)

No. I will not buy new temple pants! I will lose weight so I could fit into those pants once again. I am determined.

I am happy to hear that you are doing some sweet missionary work back home. You are the person to help B. understand Gods eternal truths (Alma 26:3). One effective way to help him meet with the missionaries, is to invite him over for a family home evening. Tell the missionaries not to put any focus on B. but to teach everyone. At the end of the meeting, tell the missionaries to invite them to learn about the basics of our faith. It works all the time.

WEEK 54 - This Past Week Was Great!

Thank you for the wonderful package. I always love to receive packages, so keep em' coming.
It looks like you all had a great time on vacation. We will have to make up for lost time, right?

This past week was great! Barbara S. was baptized on Sunday. I had the privilege to perform the ordinance of baptism. It was great to get wet again, but it wasn't so great to find out my baptism (temple) pants do not fit as I would like them to...[gasp]..Im gaining weight! Also, I performed the musical number: When I Am Baptized. I sang and played guitar -- apparently it went well;)

Last week I found out that a family whom I taught in Clearfield got baptized last Saturday! This family had to rearrange their lives in order to be baptized. To make a long story short, (this wonderful couple) got married after commiting themselves to live the law of chasity, and then decided to abstain from harmful substances by living the word of wisdom. I have come to the realization that true doctrine changes everything. Once an individual understands and applies truth, they begin to understand their purpose in life, and; naturally, life makes more sense.

This week I went on exchanges with the Tremonton elders. It was great to see all of my good friends in Garland and Tremonton again! I always have a blast there. When you pick me up, Garland will be the number one spot!

Concerning BYU and UVU: I cannot get permission to look at those sites yet, because I have not been out long enough. To be honest, I haven't pondered this too much, but I think I will wait and worry about this in a couple of months. However, I want to thank you for finding out all the things I need to know. You are the 'bomb' mom! I do not know what I would do without you!

WEEK 53 - Helaman 3:35 is My Scripture of Choice

Mom,

I have not received my package yet! Whats up with that?!....Joking.... I am sure I will get it soon -- and when I do, there's going to be one happy Elder. NOTHING makes a missionary happier than when he receives a package...well maybe baptisms and new investigators, but you know what I mean.

Please, tell Jason that I am excited and happy for him. Also, tell him that I am confident that he will be a stellar missionary -- he is from LaSalle, how can he be bad?

Helaman 3:35 is my scripture of choice.

Nevertheless they did fast and pray oft, and did wax stronger
and stronger in their humility, and firmer and firmer in the faith
of Christ, unto the filling their souls with joy and consolation,
yea, even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts,
which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts
unto God

The reason why I chose this scripture is because it teaches us all about the basics of the gospel. The Gospel is not only about overcoming and avoiding sin, but doing good and being better, which is part of the process by which we are sanctified and qualify in this life with God after death. Everything boils down to faith: Understanding God's will and then, Being at peace with it. Gotta love the gospel!

This week we had the privilege of listening to Elder Porter who is in the Presidency of the Quorom of the Seventy. He taught us the importance and necessity of teaching simply. I have a renewed resolution to improve.

Yesterday, we had a Zone Leader Council. This meeting is basically set apart for zone leaders to brainstorm ideas on how to better meet the needs of the elders in our respective zones. It was pretty informative and helpful. Afterwards I had exchanges with the Assistants to the President (zone leaders go on exchanges with the A.P's at least twice a transfer). I went out with Elder Jones. We had a blast.

Tell Elder Carpenter that I miss him and tell Elder Bill we've been out ONE year!!!!hahaha

WEEK 52 B - This Week Was Awesome

I am not sure if you heard, but I met Casey Unwin and his wife at the Hinckley home this past week. It was exciting to see him again and chat for a little while.

This week was awesome. For awhile the area was slow and almost termed 'dead'. However, with the arrival of Elder Crafton things have been picking up. We were given an innumerable amount of referrals and had three baptisms on Saturday! The Lord is truly aiding us in our efforts. What's more, Elder Crafton and I get along great: we teach and preach well...together. He is a really gifted and talented missionary. This will definitely be a learning experience for me.

I know you will be happy to hear that my comp and I sing to about everyone we talk to. Singing is such a great way to invite the spirit, especially when both singers can actually 'sing'! I knew this talent would help me out on my mission.

I can't believe I have been out for one year! Time really does fly by. In fact, it is scary to think I will be home in one year. Well, I guess scary is the wrong word to use, but you know what I mean. I am glad to know I still have one year to be a full time missionary! I have gained so many friendships and obtained many memories. There is nothing better I could be doing. Thank you for being such great and loving parents.

Please tell Bro Dave Jones that I received his letter and that I appreciate him and the great example he has been to me. He was a stalwart YM President. I agree with him too: dad was an inspired bishop to choose him to lead the horribly uncontrollable YoungMen.

WEEK 52 A - A SURPRISE LETTER FROM PERRY UTAH

We are humble and thankful for the Collings to let us know how our son is doing on his mission and for their support of the worthy missionary cause.

WEEK 51 - Its 'Transfer' Time

Mom,

Another 6 weeks has flown by, which means its 'transfer' time. My new companion will be Elder Crafton. He was my zone leader in my last area and we got along really well; so I am not worried about a thing. Elder Dardon, after Thursday will no longer be known as 'Elder' but 'Brother' Dardon. He is going back to Alberta, Canada! Even though he is nervous about the transition, I know he will be comfortable.

While I was on exhanges last week, I ran into two of my recent converts from Farr West: the Meyers. Amazingly, they had just returned from the airport, picking up their recently returned missionary from Paraguay. After talking to him for a moment I found out that he knew and served around Elder Bill. How amazing is that! I was so happy to see them again. I also attended his homecoming talk and took a picture with them.
The meyers also have plans to go through the temple in a couple of months and I will be able to be there with them. I can't wait! Oh the joy's of missionary work!!!

WEEK 50 - Besides the Big Miracles, the Lord Has Also Blessed Us with Smaller Ones Too.

Hey mom,

I apologize in advance: this email will be short due to the fact my ride will be here any moment now.
The lord blessed us with two miracle baptisms this week. In addition to baptizing Micheal L., we ran into a grand-mother who told us that we needed to baptize her grand-daughter. Naturally, we agreed and told her that we can start teaching her. We taught her everything she needed to know. Even though she's only nine years old she knew everything about the gospel because she "learned wisdom in her youth" (Alma 37:35), at church. What a testimony builder. After I interviewed her for her baptism, I happily told her she was ready for baptism. You should have seen her face when I pronounced those words. On top of that, you should have heard her prayer! She was really prepared for all of this. Tell me about the Lord and his tender mercies (1nephi 1:20)

Besides the big miracles, the Lord has also blessed us with smaller ones too. We found 4 new investigators and commited all of them to baptism!!! It was amazing. The spirit aided us as we taught truth. All of them understood the pattern of dispensation and apostasy and the NEED for a restoration. We, through the help of the spirit, found the elect! After 4 weeks of hard work and now success, we finally found it!

I would like to close by saying God is real, and works through his son Jesus Christ. Because he suffered and died for us, we can qualify for his grace. I know the priesthood acts here on earth and works according to our faith and our worthiness. The Chruch is true!

I think Sister Lamph is really talented. I am sure the Carpenters really appreciated that kind gesture. By the way, tell the Carpenters that I say 'Hi'. I am not sure I have told them that in awhile:)

I am happy to hear you are anticipating your vacation. I bet you will have a blast. Even though it is sad to know that I will not join you guys, I know you will keep me in your prayers --so it will be like I am right now next to you...spiritually... and for that, I am truly grateful.

I can't believe Meagan is married! It is amazing to hear about what is happening back home. Sometimes I like to think time freezes (back home) but that is not the case.

I am glad to hear about all the success, regarding mission work, Montreal is enjoying. I don't doubt Montreal will soon see 100 conversions in one year.

Willard Bay zone updates:
We are currently projected at 22 baptisms in the month of August. Our goal, however, is 20. This is no bueno. In order to hit our goal we at least need to have 40 investigators with a baptism date. Hopefully the Lord will work miracles according to our faith and His will.

As for our area...Perry: we have one investigaor without a baptism date, BUT we are going to pick up a new investigator today @ 2 (doing work on P-day brings blessings) who is already scheduled for baptism this Saturday! Let me explain: Bishop K. visited a young man name M. a couple of nights ago. M. has been attending church on regular basis for a couple of weeks and has attended seminary for three years. During his visit, bishop challenged M. for baptism. Amazingly, he accepted and the bishop gave us a call and and told us to be prepared to teach and baptize M. BANG!!! this is how missionary work is done!
Naturally we are excited:)

The Willard Bay area stretches from Malade, Idaho down till North Ogden. Pretty big zone!

WEEK 48 - This Last Week I Went on Exhanges in Farr West

Looks like you found me. To be precise, it is the building on the left in the second picture.

Elder Lahoda (who is now home...returned honorably) filmed the video... of me dunking.

Even though this past week did not turn out like we wanted it to (we did not meet our goals), it was a good week. We found 4 new potential investigators. We hope to turn those individuals into investigators with a baptismal date this next week. Please pray that that goal will be met.

One of the advantages of being a leader is that you get to go on exchanges with all of the missionaries in the zone. This last week I went on exhanges in Farr West. Again, it was wonderful to see familiar faces and learn about the progression of my recent converts -- it was a blast.

My dinner appointments lately have been great! BBQ mainly. I am not complaining. I have been keeping in shape too, and I feel great:)

WEEK 47 - This Week Has Been Tough for Our Proselyting Area

Hey Momma,

This week has been tough for our proselyting area, the zone, and the whole mission. We are not sure what it is or what to attribute it to. We are trying to analyze this problem, but we can't seem to figure it out. Please pray for all of us!!!

Good news:
Last Wednesday I had the privilige to go on exchanges with the Elders in Garland and Tremonton!!!! As you can imagine I was really excited. The area was kind of slow, so I tried to be as helpful as possible. To help me achieve my goal ,we worked super duper hard! It is amazing to see how the Lord blesses those who work hard. To make a long story short, we ended the day with 1 on the-spot lesson with a member, 2 new investigators, 5 potential investigartors and 5 member invites.... One Elder told me he never saw such an excited Elder! It is amazing what the Lord can do.

As for my area, I pray that we might see that success soon. I guess we have to 'endure to the end'.

I am happy to hear you and dad are going on a vacation. I really miss vacationing with you guys. I hope you have a blast.

WEEK 46 - We Are Extra Motivated to Work Harder

Mommy,

I am sorry to hear the weather back home isn't so great -- that could ruin a summer. However, the summer here in Utah has been perfect. I love the sun:)

My prosyleting area is very slow, and very unproductive at this point. While it is despressing, we (Elder Dardon & I) are extra motivated to work harder so we may see success. I know the Lord will bless us.

I am very excited because we have the opportunity to work out (at a gym) every morning -- HELLO SIX PACK. It has been a long time since I have seen a gym. So I will find out how much strength I have lost. It might be a sad day haha.

This might sound foolish, but I do not know my house address. All I know is that I live on Highway 89 near the Maddox restaurant. I should probably be more aware... haha sorry. I will relay that information to you next week.

I do know and have met Elder Cale. In fact, we served in the same zone during the early months of our mission. We have formed a little relationship over the past couple of months.

I actually met Elder or Tyler Dennis at Mission Conference a couple weeks ago. It was really sweet to see him and his fiancee, Tenika. We chatted for awhile... He seems very happy. He also distributed his wedding invations to the rest of the elders.

WEEK 45 - JULY 7 2009 - I WAS CALLED AS A ZONE LEADER

Mommy,

I was unable to survive transfers. I will be serving in Perry, UT, with Elder Dardon (who is from Canada). To my suprise, I was called as a Zone Leader. I will be labouring in the Willard Bay zone, which means I will have the chance to work with elders from my old areas (Garland and Farr West). Naturally I am very excited and feel very inadequate, considering I only have 10 1/2 months under my belt! However, "I know the Lord will be before my face. He will be on my right hand and on my left and His spirit will be in my heart, and his angels round about me to bear me up"(D&C 84). I know the Lord's promises are true and will all be fulfilled.

To celebrate Independence Day, all the missionaries in our zone walked in yet another parade (West Point, UT). Again, we were received well and improved member trust -- we had a blast! I also took pictures so you could envision what we experienced.

It was a delight to receive your package. The cookies were perfect, along with everything else. I enjoyed looking at all the pictures -- it left a great taste in my mouth. Tell Marie Foisy she looks very mature and tall.

The Lord continues to bless his faithful disciples. He has assisted us in many aspects of the work, and as a result we have a packed teaching pool, and many investigators with a date, preparing for baptism. What more could a missionary want? NOTHING.

As for those brownies...Thank you Bro. and Sis. Wong. If it be your heart's desire, you could send more whenever you want:)

WEEK 44 - OGDEN ELDERS IN THE SYRACUSE PARADE

Mommy and Daddy,

It was sad to see our beloved Mission President and his wonderful wife leave. They have impacted this mission in so many ways. Before I arrived last fall, this mission was known for its disobedience. However, because of the inspired counsel given to us during numerous zone conferences, President Joyce instilled 'true doctrine' into our minds. For example, he taught us about the process of sanctification (Moroni 10:33-34), and the Law of Restoration as it is taught in Alma 42. These two topics profoundly impressed our minds, which caused us to be more obedient and to have "no more disposition to do evil" as King Benjamins people (Mosiah 5). I credit all of my success to the Lord as he has worked through Pres. Joyce. I know...I know President Joyce was called of God and has touched the lives of many. I revere and love him and his wife -- they will be greatly missed.

I had a delightful time at Mission Conference. It was great to see all of my past companions, learn about their progress and of course joke around. I belong to the best mission in the world;) !
Because Pres. and Sis. Joyce are leaving, all 12 zones in the mission prepared a 3-minute skit to commemorate and remember the Joyce's. We, as a zone, altered the lyrics to the Hymn: Praise To The Man, which was changed to: Praise to the Joyce's. I will send you the lyrics next time.

Of course I was very excited to see and talk to my recent converts and other friends I have formed from prior areas. I had a blast!

The next day, our zone, which is Syracuse, was invited to participate in the Syracuse Parade. I couldn't believe how people responded to us. We were literally treated as kings. Little kids WANTED to give us 'hi-5's', mothers took pictures and fathers commended us. We had a great time. After the parade, we attended the baptism of our now new recent convert: Harley Tomlinson. It was a day I will never forget. For times sake, I will share it with you next week:)

WEEK 43 - VISITING BOUNTIFUL TEMPLE

Mommy,

Today we went to the Bountiful temple. It was nice to visit and worship in another temple besides Ogden -- Change is nice. Yes. I took pictures.

This past week was full of blessings and miracles...again:

Elder Onon and I picked up three new investigators: Harrison Corn, Bua Bread and Kaden MacMillan. All three of these individuals are excited about and are preparing for baptism. We currently have 9 investigators with a baptism date and 6 other investigators. The Lord IS extending blessings and we are enjoying them. This past week has reminded me of the words of Malachi, as repeated by the Savior: "Prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of Host, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it. (3 nephi 24)

I was and still am excited about Jason's recently arrived call-letter. I guess I should refer to him as Elder Glowa, right? You are right. Western America is serving as a magnet and attracting all of the 'Lasalle Boys'. Good on' Western America -- They need stable and hard working men to publish the good news of Christ! Don't quote me on that;) Please give him my greetings and love.

As for Elder Carpenter...Tell him I have not forgotten him. I do mention his name in my prayers and I constantly tell those I meet that my best buddie is in the Provo mission. I am glad he is doing well.

This Friday President and Sister Joyce will be holding a mission-wide conference. I cannot wait for this event. Many of my recent-converts will be attending. I cannot wait to find them.
This morning, while I was in the temple the names of ALL those whom I've taught and baptized, came to mind. Of course, I was reminded of the often-quoted scripture found in the Gospel of John: He [Holy Ghost] will teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance. I came to the realization that I have baptized 28 souls, thus far. What a blessing it is to know that I am serving as a instrument in the Lords hands in bringing souls unto Him.

This realization has strengthened my resolve to refine my spirituality and advance in the pursuit of having clean hands and a pure heart. I know the gospel fills all emptiness, heals any wound and answers the questions of the soul. I know good news of Christ is fully taught in the Church of JESUS CHRIST of latter day saints.

I am delighted to hear about the success the Quebec Montreal M-R Stake is enjoying. Thank you for the updates with regards to new callings. All of this is very exciting.

This week Elder Onon and I have witnessed many miracles:

1. After teaching an "on the spot lesson", and commiting an investigator for baptism at least three times, we finally gave up and requested we offer a prayer to close the meeting. During the prayer, the (loud) music in the back room turned off. Immediatelty after saying "amen" he looked up and said, "Did you hear that!!!" I then said, "We did...Who is in the back room?" He replied, "No one". Will you guys come back on Tuesday? As you could probably imagine, we were shocked!

2. While we were visiting with one of the bishops, we met his inactive daughter who asked us if we could baptize her 10 year-old son.
Can you believe it!!! ? The Lord continues to bless and watch over us here in Clearfield.

Today we hiked Adams Canyon. It was so neat. However, I wish I was in better shape -- I was huffing and puffing the WHOLE TIME...that's the mark of an "out-of-shape son". Yes. I took many pictures and you will receive them next week.

This past week, Elder Onon and I taught 30 lessons. That is a record!!
PLease keep me in your prayers and thank the Lord for all that he does for us.

WEEK 41 - One Day Late!!! -June 10 2009

Mommy,

In case you were wondering (worrying), yesterday was zone-conference. Thus, we were not allowed to email home.

Alexandra and Sherry were baptized this past Saturday. (See pictures "LATEST PICTURES FROM CLEARFIELD on the right sidebar) This event was truly a miracle. As I have said before, initially, their mother did not support us! However, we were persistent and continued to visit them daily. Because of the word of God, their hearts became soft and in time, they began to like us. They started to accept and keep commitments and ultimately decided to be baptized. They have also been attending church consistently for 7 weeks now -- Praise the LORD! He continually blesses us.

I am glad you are keeping in touch with those I have met thus far (Sister Lamph). I too have seen many friends I have made in past areas. It is always good to see familiar faces. After my mission is terminated we have to tour the areas I served -- you will love it!

So, Elder Stewart was transfered midway through the transfer. I am currently serving in a regular companionship and following the counsel of the Lord : "...preaching the gospel two by two" :)
We will have a mission conference this month, so we will have a mission picture I can send home!
I have not heard from Elder Dennis....

Keep me updated with Patty and Hamish! I love hearing their experiences.

I have not played guitar in forever! I miss it so much. At the beginning of the transfer, one of the missionaries (who is a drummer) thought he could get us in a recording studio; however, that never happened. Have you been writing more songs or have you stopped for a time?

I hear you are on fire -- missionary-wise! I am happy to hear this. What you are doing WILL prepare you for your mission. I know you will be a blessing and not a burden to your future mission president. Remember that you need to be fully equipped to serve a mission too. It is not an alternative to motherhood. In fact, your mission will shape you into the mother you would like to be IF you serve valiantly.

My mission is changing me. As I develop and cultivate faith, and warrant the principles of the gospel to effect my choices, the desires of my heart become more like the Lord's. Living within the gospel limits is easier and serving others becomes natural. WEEK 40 - JUNE 2 2009

Mommy and Daddy,

First off, have you recieved the pictures I sent two weeks ago? I sent quite a few...I will send them again if you didn't.

We, the 3 muskateers are having a blast! Elder Onon really adds a new flavor to our companionship -- he is a wonderful addition.

I am grateful I serve in this mission too. It is the best one;) of course I am partial to it. I too pray for all the missionaries serving in their respective areas.

Two nights ago the Assitants to the President called me and asked for permission to use my district actuals (numbers related to key indicators) for a zone leader training. I reluctantly agreed. The next day my zone leaders called and expressed how happy and proud they were to have the most productive district in the mission -- number-wise. I was shocked! Again, the Lord never ceases to work miracles among us.

- Yes, Cody was baptized. It was a really spiritual event. I am glad and delighted to have met and taught him.
- We do not use a bike. I am not fond of them.
- Yes, we still have a lot of investigators. In fact, we will have 2 baptism's this week.
- I keep all the dear elders letters -- keep em coming,

The weather is beautiful and the sun continues to burn;) In effect, people mistake me for a Spaniard! I am getting DARK. I love itttt

WEEK 39 - MAY 26 2009

Mommy and Daddy,

My companion and I survived the last transfers! However, one more elder will be added to our companionship! I will be in a threesome! I am pretty excited. His name is Elder Onon. He is from Mongolia.

Yesterday during our district meeting, the assistants to the president joined us, unexpectedly (periodically, they choose to attend district meetings all over the mission). Naturally, everyone was well behaved. The meeting went very smoothly. After the meeting, they led me to a room so we could evaluate. What they said shocked me: "The best district meeting they attended in awhile". Naturally, I was smilling from ear to ear! The Lord has truly blessed me. Please continue to pray in gratitude for all the ways the Lord is blessing me.

One of our investigators (good friend), made this sweeeeeeeeet leather case for my scriptures (you will see it in the photo I will send next week)

We will be having a baptism this week. His name is Cody. He is what we call a GOLDEN investigator. He has accepted and applied all of the commitments we left with him. Please pray for him.

So, Brother and Sister Tanner stopped by and took some pictures. It was nice seeing them again.

Interviews with Pres. Joyce were suh-weeet. He knows how to answer every question. He is truly inspired and I am grateful to work with him.

The weather hasn't changed much. It is still really hot and I'm loving it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!! hope Dad and Rebecca made you feel special!

First things first: IT IS HOT HERE! However, I am loving it. There is no better sight than seeing the burning sun illuminate Clearfield for the WHOLE DAY! The sun literally stops shining at 9:00 P.M. As long as we bring our water bottles we are fine. On top of that, as you have probably noticed, I am getting tanned -- and I love it;)

Today I saw Brother Austad at the temple!!! It was so great seeing him. We chatted for a moment and recalled amazing stories about home.

All of our investigators are suh-weeeeeet. They look forward to seeing us and anticipate their scheduled baptism day.

Elder Stewart and I witnessed a grand miracle this past week: One of our investigators, who told us he would never attend sacrament meeting, walked through the chapel doors and worshipped with us. Naturally, Elder Stewart and I were in complete shock. The Lord continues to bless us here in this blessed area.

Last week we spoke in the Clearfield 8th ward. My talk was received really well. My talk was focused on the blessings that emanate from the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

On Wednesday our district will be meeting with the president and he will conduct interviews. I always look forward to those. He is a very special man. I love to learn from him.

This week I learned that when one hears the message of Christ, our faith and hope blossom in our hearts. Continue to read and apply the scriptures into your lives and the lives of others.

I am delighted to hear that you are continually engaged in publishing the gospel to your friends. I promise you in the name of the Lord that He will send His Holy Spirit to assist and accompany you as you do so. Also, blessing will arise and your testimony will deepen.

Mommy and Daddy,

It was a pleasure and a delight to talk to all of you again. I have to admit that I really missed all of your voices. However, I detect that all is well in beautiful Montreal and with our family.

I am glad to know that dad's sense of humor has not lessened. I really missed his sarcastic and humorous comments. Rebecca sounds very sure of herself, especially with regard to her resolve to serve a full-time mission. I am proud of her. I know she will be an effective missionary. She holds qualities that will charm and captivate all those she comes in contact with -- because she is a "Kaufman". Mom, I am happy to know you haven't changed at all. During our conversation, I felt your excitement and concern for me. I appreciate you and your prayers. Keep them coming --I need them:)

Please notify Patrick that I am thankful for his birthday wishes, as well of those of all the ward members. Please send them my love and my salutations.

This past week I went on exchanges with the assitants to the president. We had a memorable experience. Let me share it with you:

While walking the streets of Ogden, we randomly picked a house and knocked on the door. After persuading this individual with our testimonies of the restored gospel, he invited us in. During the course of the lesson, he interupted us and boldly claimed to have the capacity to see into the future. Naturally, we were astonished by this comment. My companion, in response, asked: Do you see yourself getting baptized in the future? After a few moments of silence, the investigator replied: YES! I was totally suprised!

I agree with the testimony of Moroni: Miracles have not ceased.
I thought you would enjoy that humorous, yet, spiritual experience.

Mommy and Daddy,

Do you believe your son is now 20 years old? I am not going to lie, "celebrating" your birthday during your mission is quite different. Nonetheless, I had a blast. THANK YOU so much for the package! I Love my new cuff-links. For the record, I have been using them. Yesterday, we picked up two new investigators -- what a gift:)

Please tell Aunt Joyce and Micheal that I received their card. Tell them I love and miss them. Also, please contact the Austad and tell them I appreciate their gift!

Do you remember Elder Willie? Well, right after emailing you, we traveled to Wal-Mart and bumped into him. We talked for a while and made lunch plans. On top of that, Sister Tanner gave me a call and informed me that she would be visiting Montreal (lucky).

Elder Stewart and I currently are teaching 10 investigators with baptism dates -- all of which are set in May. We are having a lot of success and continually offer prayers of thanks.
My district is made up of 4 companionships (including Elder Stewart and I). This is a relatively large district, but I love the challenge. I am learning so much. I have learned that as I study for the needs of my district, my concerns are resolved. This has reinforced my testimony of serving others.

How did you celebrate dad's birthday? I hope you had a blast. Happy birthday, again!!! Keep me updated!!!

WEEK 35 - APRIL 28 2009

Mommy and Daddy,

This week Elder Stewart and I baptized Cesar Rojas. This particular baptism was very interesting. Let me explain: The ward mission leader did not fill the baptismal font. Because of this, Elder Stewart and I had to fill the font with water using buckets -- seeing as the font take at least three hours to fill through the tap. This whole process took 40 minutes. We were sweating because we were literally running from the utility room to the font. But after much hard work and faith, the Lord provided and allowed the Cesar to be baptized on time. The baptism was obviously spiritual and evidently exciting.

I presented my first district meeting this past week. For the first time on my mission I was nervous. However, I received a lot of positive feedback, so that was comforting. I am really excited about this assignment. I especially like conducting missionary exchanges. I have a blast getting to know all the missionaries in my district. As of last week, our district lost a lot of investigators and it is not looking so hot right now. Please pray for us!

I have not heard from or about Pat in a long while. Can you keep me updated? I am sure he is doing well. He has two trainers, he is definitely being looked after. I am sure he is having a blast.
So yesterday we moved into our own apartment. It is such a sweet place. There is a bowflex that I could use so I can get physically and spiritually buff:) I am way excited! I am not sure of the address, but I will give it to you asap.

Next week is Stake Conference for us too. Pretty cool huh!

Mommy,

The weather is perfect and I am happy! What's more, I am in a walking area, so I feel healthy:) - I am doing well.

My new companion is a stud! We have a lot of fun, talk to EVERYONE and work our little hearts out -- it is sweet.

So here's the story:

We cover 9 wards in Clearfield North and the members are eager to help and invite. We have tons of people to teach and baptize!

We live with the Hoggan's temporarily due to some complications . My companion's name is Elder Stewart. He is from Thunder Bay Ontario! Sister Joyce always mentions that she regrets putting two Canadians together! haha

Please tell the Sperduti's, Loredana and Anthony that I miss them and hope they are doing well.

Trust me, you do not want to roam the streets of Ogden. You want to make your way to Garland, Farr West, and Bountiful.
My suitcases seem to be doing well. No complaints -- They do well holding all of my prized possessions.
Tomorrow I will hold my first district meeting! I cannot wait. There are a lot of really good elders that I look forward to working with.

Anyways, today I plan on jamming with the other companionship that lives with us. Also, we will be playing some sports and going shopping. These are basically the components that constitute a regular P-day -- oh plus temple worship;)

We are grateful for the Hess Family to share with us this happy moment in our son's mission. What a blessing it is to know that the missionaries are given such love and appreciation during their mission. "Garland" is a pleasing sound to us! I am sure Elder Kaufman recounted these happy memories in his personal journal.

Mommy,

I am looking forward to the day I receive my package :) for the record, I really appreciated and loved the last package you sent me. I have used and loved the cuff links you sent and loved viewing the photo album.

Funny story:
Yesterday, while Elder Lunt and I (stripling warriors) were knocking some doors, we met a dazed and confused old man walking the streets of busy Plain City (not really). Because we are missionaries, we were compelled by the spirit to talk to this individual. Immediately after we yelled: HEY! He told us that he discovered his new identity (he picked up someone’s lost bank card). The card read Clinton (I forgot the first name). Elder Lunt and I chuckled for a moment. When we were composed, we questioned him. We said with a smile on our face: Clinton, where are you walking to? He replied: California. haha Shocked by his response, he laughed again and then we offered him a book that would refocus his life. After saying those exact words, he denied our offer and said: “You guys shouldn't have killed those kids in Utah”. He then continued his long travel/trek to California. ahahaa

Farr West and Plain City are looking beautiful. The mountains are great, and I’m loving it. The weather is so charming and helps motivate us to do work!

I receive my dear elder letters via my mail box:)
I have not yet communicated with the Bywaters. I will write them a short email today!

The last dream I had was about me meeting all of the apostles during a sacrament meeting. After the meeting concluded, they all approached and quizzed me about their recent talks given at conference! INTENSE:) haha

So, my service in Farr West has come to an end. I am moving on to a new place. I will miss the great friendships I have formed here. I have been re-assigned to the Clearfield North area (Syracuse). On top of that, I have been called to be a district leader and to re-train a recently arrived missionary. This is a great opportunity for me. I am happy the Lord trusts me with this calling.

Mommy,

I have really come to appreciate the teachings of the Brethren. I was truly uplifted and enlightened. I have a stronger and reinforced resolution to be more like our Savior. Isn't this the purpose and objective of general conference?

Elder Holland is the Bruce R McConkie of our time. He enabled me to envision the scene of our Savior's suffering. He re-taught me that Christ, through His God-given power, has the capacity to make us whole because he has PERFECT understanding. The Atonement is real. It is infinite and will always be in effect. Come unto him so we may feel his rest.

This past week has been really good. I have received abundant revelations. Revelation allows the scriptural episodes to come alive. I come to learn that the pattern of our spiritual development is outlined in 2 Nephi 28:30 line upon line, precept upon precept. This point is illustrated in the story of Lehi. After accomplishing the Lord's first commandment (crying repentance to the people of Jerusalem), the Lord issued this subsequent instruction: travel into the wilderness. This commandment ultimately led them to the promise land and the establishing of churches and temples. So it is with our lives, we need to keep one commandment at a time, so we can advance the way the Lord intended us to.

I have also come to learn through the spirit that the purpose of the Gospel is not merely to overcome and avoid sin, but to have no disposition to do evil; furthermore, to have clean hands and a pure heart. Those who try to live their lives this way will ascend into the hill of the Lord.

Besides attending conference, Elder Lunt and I had the privilege to witness the baptism and confirmation of Rene W. It was such a spiritual experience. We anticipate 4 more baptisms for this month.

The Lord is truly blessing us.
